I replaced my factory NAV unit with a single DIN Pioneer unit about 2 months ago. Just recently, the volume goes up and down on its own. I got everything ( including the harness ) from Crutchfield. The only thing I could think could be wrong is the factory amp. It does have the BOSE unit.

Thanks

Does the unit have Automatic Volume Control? If so, check the setting to make sure it's OFF. If power was recently removed (like battery work) it may have reverted to default settings.

I'm not sure, but I will check. I haven't unhooked the battery
Thanks

I checked and my head unit doesn't have adaptive volume control like my factory unit did. It's almost like the amp. The funny part is that it only does it when it's on radio, it doesn't do it when I play my iPod

I talked to Crutchfield and they said they are pretty sure I have a defective head unit and are shipping me out a new one. Sounded like they have had problems with the Pioneer units.
