I have been looking for a good thread on led drl replacements and haven't been able to find much. What kind of led drl bulbs has everyone used and how do you like them? I want to put the jdm Astars in for the reverse light replacements but heard they don't last long for drl.

I use these in my DRLs.

They are only 10w, I've had them in my truck for only 2 months, but so far, I havent had any trouble.

Do you mean just using the astars would last a long time as a drl? I was looking for a 4114 bulb by them but wasn't able to find any.
Which ones are youW8TVI?
Thanks 95escahoe!

the LED bulb I linked to fits all these base types: 3156 3056 3356 3456 4156 3157 3047 3057 3357 3457 4057 4111 4114 4157.

There is no "4114" LED.

The problem that you have to worry about is the heat that the lamps create.

The 1200 lumen JDM ASTAR isn't well heat sinked, so it tends to kill it self when ran for long periods of time in a small enclosed area like the where the DRLs sit in our trucks (but it does work just fine when used as a reverse light because it runs for such short periods of time, it doesn't have time to heat up much).

The one I linked to in my post claim to run at 10w (that is almost 20w less than the stock DRL bulbs), so they should work just fine in that application.

That only really applies to incandescent bulbs.
It's the wattage of the bulb that is more important (and the reviews on how fast they die) in this case.

The stock 4114 bulb is a 29w bulb, I think.
If you find a bulb that is a lot lower wattage it should last a lot longer.

No my founding is based only off personally replacing my drl with multiple 3157 led bulbs till I researched and saw that its the 4114 that is the correct bulb. I never played with the incandescent bulbs but I heard they do the same.

Think of it as a high beam and a low beam. You install the 3157 in the drl spot it will be stuck on high beam powering the low beam function which it's not meant to be used as a constant light with that extra power for long periods of time.
You can trick it by swapping the leads wires on the base and reversing them.
I suck at explaining things on the Web lol
