Low voltage light coming on, dim headlights, etc.

Noticed this lately, especially if truck sits for a full day and/or when it is below freezing out. Voltage dial on dash drops from around 14 to 11-12 along with dimming headlights, slower fan motor, etc, anything electrical "slows down" when the voltage drops. Then it will pop back up to 14 and everything will be fine, repeat that process for about 10-15 minutes and everything returns to normal. Should I have the alternator tested? The battery is only a year old, DieHard Gold with 700CCA.

well from my experience when the red battery came up on my dash I had to replace the alternator and the guy at oriellys tested it and it was dead and it was a week old

Have the battery and the alternator tested...
If the alternator is not doing it's job charging (should output 14.4V when running) the battery will drain. Years ago, I had an alternator that was only working on 1/3 capacity. Glad I wasn't on the road when it died.
