Hey guys, found a great deal $50 on an HD hood for my Tahoe. It's green though. My truck is black. Any ideas on cost to paint? Or maybe do a gloss black or carbon fiber vinyl wrap?eea2ab5d77d9f0314d67fa43b0f87e6e.jpg

That's a great deal! I also found a green one and my truck is blue. Body shops vary on price. Depends on paint they use, dents, rust, how much prep they'll have to do etc. I'd shop around, but they'll probably want to see the Hood first before giving you an estimate. I'm guessing anywhere from $150-$400. But that's just my guess. I'm in nj, where everything is expensive anyway.

I got mine in my factory paint code on car-part.com. had it shipped to my office and came out pretty good. Ez to find black ones. I paid $200 to ship but that was tax , fees and insurance..actual shipping was $99 lol.. $50 local is a good deal and worth paying someone to paint as long as it's straight.

$50 is a score. I got mine for $40 and you can see it on my sig pic. Rat rod look. Definitely investigate the corrosion factor, figuring that it is off a 2001-2002 Silverado. Mine turned out to have a bit of corrosion buried underneath layers of primer and paint and a few dents once they started sanding it back, but otherwise straight to the windscreen and grill. The fender/hood gap is a little big larger than our OEM hoods, at least on mine it is, but not enough to put me off having that killer hood on.

I have gotten all my paint from automotivetouchup.com and either quarts or rattle cans in different batches have been spot on each time. @Tonyrodz has the cost factor about right depending on how well your relationship is with the painters. Make sure they shoot the entire hood, even on the inside. For me it was worth it to have the entire unit painted and looking good, even though it is covered by the heat pad (these are not made anymore if you have it, clean it, paint it and put it back in there).

Look forward to seeing it mounted.

Completely depends on the shop, location, rates, etc.

I just picked up a new HD hood for $100 off of CL, and am having it painted, along with blended into my fenders to it all matches perfectly, for $600. That includes material, etc.

Thanks! I just bought an 03 Tahoe LS with 130K on it for $3000....needed a blower motor resistor and airbag.

Already repalced both, now to spruce it up a bit and use it as my daily while i finish supercharging my Camaro.

Ill post a build log once i take some pictures, hopefully tomorrow. Love this thing, minus the handling like a sailboat compared to my Camaro!
