Ok, so everyone now knows about 'secret' compartment behind the lcd screen on the later model GM SUVs and how to open it. In order to keep it 'locked', I would like to install a hidden interrupter switch near the driver's seat so that both buttons need pressing in order to operate the screen. That way, nobody could get into your secret compartment.

Anyone seen or heard this done? Anyone know which wire in the wiring harness I would need to break in order to wire up the hidden switch and where that wire originates? And, what the electrical requirements the hidden switch would need to be?

I think it's a great idea to keep your storage compartment 'secret' if it could be done.

You're looking to do something in addition to valet mode, right?

Yes. Valet mode is a lock out feature that requires a PIN number to reopen the LCD. It would be much easy and faster to operate if I press two buttons simultaneously.

Once the weather breaks I'm going to work on this.

I'm thinking that a simple 2-wire interrupter on whatever feeds the screen actuator/motor should work.
Hold the new button in, while pressing the factory button and it will complete the circuit.

I used these 19mm illuminated ring switches for other electronics. (also come in 16mm)
There is a small amount of space below the headlight switch to mount them, and I have room for 1 more above the Red.
