Occasionally, and with no regular pattern, I've noticed that the interior lights do not always come on when I turn the key/engine off or pull the key out of the ignition. Most times, the interior lights do come on when either of those happen, but it seems like more and more recently that I'm in the dark. Anyone else had this issue? Known problem....known solution? Thanks in advance.

Time to move this one back up for a solution. It is happening more and more as time goes on. When things are working correctly....if I pull the key out of the ignition or open any door, the interior lights come on. In the last 2-3 weeks, I've been seeing the interior lights not coming on in those instances. As an example, one day I had the drivers door open for about 15 seconds, interior light came on when I opened the door, then after about 15 seconds of the door being open, the interior lights faded to off.

It seems to do it more often when I remove the key but am still sitting in the car, no interior lights come on. I can't be the only one experiencing this???

This may or may not be related.....sometimes I get a random single chime or ding after the Tahoe has started and is running, but after it's normal sequence of chimes. I think it does this on occasion after turning off too.

Anyone? Is this a problem with key switch, door switch, interior control bus, if this 04 Tahoe uses bus?

Thanks in advance.

Also make sure ground is good on firewall right behind engine. This is part of the grounding for the PCM which controls all interior lighting and much more. This ground gets dirty, corroded and even broken (Road salt) and your SUV is gonna be possessed with some of the most freakish problems you ever seen.

Funny you say that cause she saw road salt for the first time(Michigan) last week and St Louis this week. She has 266000 on too. I'll do some digging.

So I solved my problem with the LEDs. I have the cheap ones in my 2002 YD and my maps stopped working when I flipped the dimmer SW, and if I had the interiors on Maps would turn off the Interior. No power to doors at all.
The engine bay fuse box has a CTSY LP fuse that was blown. I was still getting power to the lights but the current would drop 12v to 3v when the map or dimmer switch was on. Also I found that my sunroof/moonroof had stopped working when this fuse had blown.
