Transmission pan drop

Ok I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but u searched with no anewer

I am going to do the corvette servo for my 04 2wd yukon but at the same time I want to drop the pan and get a good filter in there

It looks like the trans was serviced before I bought it. Now 10k miles later it is getting darker. So I want to do the corvette servo I figured I'd to a filter change and add the makeup for doing that. I understand doing the servo doesn't require doing all that but I want to make sure a good filter is in there, not some cheap used car filter.

Any way how much fluid will I lose?

What is a good trans filter and what spec trans fluid should I put in it? My truck came with no owners manual and the build numbers are tore off in the glovebox.

4.8 with a 2wd 4l60 trans.

I did it a couple months ago one has 100K and the other 150K and so far no problems.

I just did this on my trans after replacing a good number of parts in it this last weekend. I also added a external filter so the way I connected the hose was a little different, but the same process none the less. Improved performance for sure and switched to DEX VI. 245K+ miles on the ticker.

Recommended trans fluid for my '02 4L60E is DEXIII; why change to DEXVI? I realize that's what the person in that link used , but he doesn't say why.

After allot of reading wondering the same I found that there are many benefits to switching. Longer lasting, increased shearability, etc... GM discontinued Dex III so what you will find is dex/merc. It's what is considered the equivalent and has mixed reviews and not as regulatedas far as standards. Any brand of dexVI has to be approved by GM and meet certain high standards to be labeled DEX VI so you will get the same thing with every brand! And it is completely backwards compatible.

And my Yukon is an 03 with the same trans belted to it.

I did some reading and came to the same conclusion. DEX VI it will be.
