I've been researching options to improve the light output on my '08 Tahoe LT. But I'm picky. I prefer a factory look, I am not interested in doing the retrofit myself, I won't throw $1,000 at a full set-up----that's just too much for me to swallow for lighting---and I won't install cheap crap that will burn-out bulbs or ballasts in 90 days.

I had figured that I'd have to make do with the factory setup, then I found this site that offers full kits for about $650 if you delete the halos, which is what I would do. Still a lot of money for lighting, but a lot lower than a grand.

I never heard of them until yesterday. Anyone give these a shot?

I thought that 1k for lighting was a bit ridiculous as well until I started to think of the implications of if something went out at a bad time... for that simple fact alone, I went ahead and spent the $$$ on all OEM equipment, which is what the main cost is of these builds. You can easily find companies that will build something for around 5 or 600 bucks, but it is usually with aftermarket equipment. On my build I went with OEM projectors (Lexus RX350 Bi-Xenon) with factory Phillips bulbs (over $200 on bulbs alone) and Morimoto ballasts. I think the cheapest part of the build were the Eagle Eye replica housings to be able to open up for the build. I great source of information is the forum, HIDPlanet. I was able to get great information there for helping research my build.

Best of luck! I'm sure you will be able to find something that ticks all of your must have boxes!

I got in contact with them and went to check them out not long ago as they are local, they did a retro for a friend of mine with a RAM pickup truck and they came out good and he did spend quite a lot but it was worth it for the crazy amount of work those lamps need.

Sounds like a great experience. Totally cool.

But I'm not going to throw a grand at my headlights.

I aimed them correctly and added LED to my fog/driving lights for under $20. I'm happy. :)

Which LED set did you go with?

Are you running a set of LED in your OEM reflector headlights? If so what LED's did you go with? I've considered doing it but I wasn't sure if I should do to how bright they are.

Negative. I understand that running LED bulbs in OEM reflector headlight assemblies causes significant beam scatter/glare for oncoming drivers. I'm not interested in that.

With my OEM headlights properly aimed, and with the added light output from the LED bulbs in the fog light assemblies (which are low, of course, and do not create glare problems for other drivers), I'm satisfied with my usable light output.

Ordered a set of the same bulbs, installed them tonight, and unfortunately I'm disappointed with the light output of them. I do like the whiter look of the bulb, I can't even see the lights with my headlights on.

Surprised to hear it. I couldn't tell at all when my OEM fog light bulbs were on but I can definitely tell when the LED fog bulbs are on.

You'd probably like the TRS (Morimoto?) projector style LED assemblies. They fit in the factory NNBS fog light position and they throw a bright, long beam with excellent cut-off. They're $200. I can't quite justify spending the money on them, since my setup works fine for my purposes, but if I needed significantly more light I'd buy them today.
