I have a day left to return it if I want. 07 yukon xl denali 100500 miles. Reputable dealer. Of course it never happened on the test drive.
But 70 miles in to owning it the service stabiltrac and service traction control came on. Went out the next morning and still on when restarted, but out in a couple minutes. Dealer is being super cool and gave me a loaner and they are moving it to their GMC store to have it looked at. Sounds like they will likely fix it for me IF they can find the problem.
I also bought another 36000 mile warranty.
But.....do I cut and run with their 48 hour no hassle return, or keep it and see it through?
This one was the cheapest around, and I got them to put 4 new tire, axle boots, and front autoride shocks plus front sway links without adding the price, so I know they are already taking a dirty bath in this sale. But I know these all have a stabilitrac problem at some point. Should I hope this is mine one issue, and the issue will get solved and I'll be safe another half million miles or so? ;)
For the record I'll be paying for this car another 5 years...

You should be fine. Most of the time its a bad steering position sensor, its very common. If you have the warranty, I wouldnt worry about it. Should be a good truck.

Keep it and let them fix it. Things happen and coincidences are more common then you think. Sounds like the dealer has been awesome, so give them a little faith.

UPDATE:
the code was stored as a bad variable valve timing solenoid. They replaced it.

I just read a lot of things about the trucks just dying and giving that code, then the dealer not reading the code so I was / still am concerned about that possibility since there still seems to be no root cause or fix in the community.
But for now, I guess it's good and I'm picking it up.

im no mechanic but that doesnt seem right. How can a valve timing solenoid cause stabilitrak and traction problems?? Sounds to me like a bad hub/bearing or at the very least a bad abs sensor in the hub.

I've seen a bad 02 sensor cause a stabilitrac light before, so not surprising.

it's all connected. When you do a tune all of the stabilitrac and stuff turns off and on. I wouldn't be surprised at all. Sounds like a decent dealer - good luck with your new purchase
