Is this a Range AFM device issue?

I have one of the Range AFM units in my 2016 Yukon Denali. For a couple of weeks it has worked fine. Recently I have had this happen two times. I start the truck and take off but the transmission doesn't shift at all. It feels like it is starting off 2nd or 3rd gear and the manual shift mode doesn't work. And, the check engine light is on. I pull over and stop, restart the engine and take off with no change. I stop again and pull the Range AFM device. Restart again and everything is fine, the transmissoin shifts and the check engine light is off. Is there something wrong with my Range unit, or do I have a transmission issue?

If it doesn't do it when the Range is installed, then I think that answers your question. Some guys were having issues over on gm-trucks.com with their devices as well.

The failure happened while the Range was installed, never while it was not.

Range Technology customer service replaced my unit. So far so good. They said they had a few issues like mine.

Is this a Range AFM device issue?
