I just purchased a 2002 Tahoe. It has stock rims, but the previous owner put undersized tires on it. The overall diameter is close to 2" smaller than what it's supposed to be.

Other than my speedometer being inaccurate, is there any other technical issue that could arise from this situation? I do plan to replace the tires, but I'm wondering how urgently this has to be done.

As long as all 4 tires are the same size it won't cause any mechanical issues.

If you want to correct the speedometer you can buy a programmer to change the tire size or you can take it somewhere to have them reprogram it. i would recommend ignoring it or buying the programmer. This way anytime you change tire size you can fix the speedo. not to mention the possible performance and fuel economy gains.

I bet it looks goofy with smaller tires on it. My stock sized wheels and tires look laughably small to me as is.
