I was under my denali the other day I have a seal leak on that side and mine doesn't have that movement in it. I have no idea if that is the cause of your problem but mine is tight there just a seal leak. So I'd say it's not good you have that much play.

pnwdan, the bad thing is that with so much play on the bearings your front diff gears probably wore out as well. You may need to rebuilt the entire front diff.

Yep. Mine is leaking on both sides but doesn't have play in it like that. Im considering removing it and the transfer case. AWD is pointless for the most part and heavy.

I had random
Vibration chattering type sound sometimes it would take 20 minutes before sound started and they said it was bearings. Noise is gone now.

I changed out the stub axle bearings and seals this morning. Bearings didn't look that bad. I did have one seal leaking so I'm glad I did it. Wasn't a huge job. Went pretty quick. Drove it around town and it seems smoother but I wont know for sure until I get it on the freeway. I did also notice that my sway bar links weren't as tight as they could be (they are aftermarket). I tightened those up quite a bit. I've read those can cause vibration too. We'll see how it goes
