I just went through this on my 97 tahoe, no one could tell me how to check them without a CEL on, everyone said that if the light wasn't on they were fine. But I had a smog test coming up and I wasn't getting very good mileage so I changed the two front ones, needless to say my hoe has 200000...
The bulbs might be burnt out, it's pretty easy to change. If you can put an aftermarket deck in you can change the bulbs, I forget what bulb it is but its smaller then the 194 bulbs.
Maybe someone will chime in with the correct bulb number.

1- 4 door captains chairs will bolt in, but they will not have the pull forward access to the rear seat in your 2-door
2- You can add heated seats but I'm not sure if the plug would be there, I doubt it is, but you would just have to find a fused, switched power source for it.
I'm jealous! Now off to the pick and pull to find one!
Are you going to hook up the 12V power? If so are you going to splice into the existing cig lighter?

The actual bulb plugs are probably coroded the ****, very common problem, I tried getting a used one off many parts vehicles (pickups work too) but they were all no good, the dealer wants 150 or so for it as it is a whole harness.
you may be able to splice in some new plugs, but LMC truck...
