    2004 Suburban 1500 LT 4x4, Denver area

Sad to say, but it's time for me to sell my '04 Suburban. It's been a good vehicle but I needed something newer to tow our camper. Specs: 2004 Chevy Suburban, LT, 4x4, 5.3, 4L60, 3.73 w/G80 and almost all available options. I am the second private owner, purchased in 2015 with 136k miles on...

    Replacing fog lights

replaced mine with cheap LEDs. 3+ years on them and they still work fine. I just cut the "reflector" out of the factory light and put the LEDs inside the factory light housing. Drilled a hole for the power wire and connected it to the factory wire. The mounting bracket for the LED...

    Rebuilt transmission died at 33k....

Not happy right now! I got my '04 Suburban 1500 4x4 in December of 2015. Did great pulling our little T@B trailer through Colorado for most of 2016. Then in August of that year, coming back from a camping trip, I lost gears 3 and 4. The good news is that I was able to "limp" home in 2nd...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Not today but yesterday.... My '04 'Burb is a Tow Pig, and we spend most of the Summer pulling a 3500# trailer up and down Colorado's 11,000'+ passes. The trans tends to get a little warm, even with the factory trans cooler, so I finally decided to put on a bigger one. For those who haven't...

4x4 transfer case swap 2004 GMC yukon

Besides the T-case and the button, I think you would also need the ECU off of the donor vehicle because the NR4 4wd system is integrated with the traction control. I'm not even sure if they'd be compatible.

4x4 transfer case swap 2004 GMC yukon

He likely has the one that looks like this. Note that there's no 2wd position Top is traction control on/off, middle is 4hi, bottom is 4 low. I don't know if the center differential locks on this one. Given the age of these vehicles I would think it'd be much simpler to sell your Yukon...

    Driver information center is dim

Since you have a 2013 you might try reposting this in the GMT 900 section of the forum. You could get some better info there. ;) https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/categories/2007-2014-tahoe-yukon-escalade-models.3/

    Driver information center is dim

Well, after 3 years of owning the Suburban I can confidently say, "no, there is not a fix for this." The DIC is simply not readable in bright light, that's just the way it is. I even had my instrument cluster rebuilt by Circuit Board Medics (which fixed the dim PRND321 indicator just fine)...

Who is worse Buyers or sellers?

Wait, an S-10 Blazer is a "classic" now? :happy175:

    Bilstein part # question

My 5100 front shocks don't look anything like that. They don't have a "ring" on the upper end as they go into a shock tower and are then secured with a nut.

Who is worse Buyers or sellers?

I'd have to say buyers. If a seller's ad is lousy (as many are) you can just bypass it. I'm sure as hell not going to waste my time trying to buy something if the seller won't even post a legible ad, post a decent picture, or respond to an email. Buyers, OTOH, are time wasters. They tell...

Does anyone know where to get detailed VIN info for free?

You can get a printout of the build sheet based on the VIN for your vehicle from Chevy but I don't know if they will let you run the VIN of a vehicle that's not yours - might be worth a try.

    Gas mileage

Do you know what ratio? It should be on the RPO code sticker on the dash. Also you can create an account with GM and they will send you a build sheet that shows all the options your vehicle has based on the VIN. Reason I ask is that if you have low gears already (like 3.42) then having big...

    Gas mileage

I'm resisting the impulse to say "sell it and buy a Prius" but I actually do get it - when you have to pay for gas, it makes sense to get the best MPG you can. To answer your question realistically, we need more information. Year? 2wd or 4wd? Miles? Gear Ratio? What other mods do you have...
