10 ply tires on the Burb. Your thoughts?

Old thread, so I'll be brief as someone else may be interested. 2009 Burb 2500 4wd. I run the 10-ply Cooper AT3 (265/75/16). 3/4 ton rides like a 3/4 ton. Work well enough in rain, snow and slush. Less well in mud. Hard rubber wears long, ~40k and still have a few miles until tread wear...

Sold NBS Tahoe. New NNBS Burb

I believe that the factory touch screen will require programming w/ tech2. Personally, I hated the factory nav. There were too many neighborhoods where it was like "Up yours dude, you're on your own!" If you have factory heated mirrors, then the tow mirrors are plug and play. I have seen...

Overheating towing with Denali 6.2L - Losing my F'n mind!!

Taking the garden hose and spraying all of those bugs out of your condenser would also help. FYI, I've seen a tailwind when driving cause a bit of a rise in engine and trans temps when going down the road loaded.

Thinking of Buying a 07-14 NNBS Tahoe/Suburban? Look Here

Transmission failures are not unheard of. I know of a few 4 and 6 speed transmissions that failed and required rebuilding/replacing. For a 6.2 you would be looking at the Escalade or Denali. The 6.0 can be found in a Tahoe, but is not the most common and would generally command a premium...

    Useless Information

GM has been using RVC since at least 2004, but do not know off the top of my head if that includes any portion of the GMT-8000 chassis run. If your battery is warmer, it takes less current to charge it. So in warmer months you should see lower amps, and and in colder months you should see...

The biggest boost to my MPG, was acknowledging that I will get there when I get there, and driving accordingly. Sure I can drive 80, hell I still do on occasion, especially when in Houston, but it doesn't mean that i have to.

    Useless Information

Running Exxon's 10% 87 all winter long had me averaging around 12mpg, but stupid cold temps had me close to 10 a few tanks. Warmer weather brings me up to 14mpg on the same fuel and Exxon 91 in warmer weather gets me 15. Straight highway miles will bring me well into the 20's, but I rarely get...

    Useless Information

That would be why I went with the Burb and not a truck. The extra weight of the Burb also results in it having a noticeably better ride over the 2500 PUs, even if it pulled the TR down from 10K to 9300. We've had considerably more than 10K on the back of a 2500HD, 6.0 Vortec, here at work for...

2016 Tahoe - when to change Transmission fluid?

Not sure that I would ever take a vehicle to the "local lube place", even if I was literally on my way to trade it in.

    Useless Information

Don't forget the Suburban holds about 13 gallons of fuel more than the Toyota and I think 11 more than the Nissan. That will factor both in weight and range. I haven't pushed the limits on my 2500 like I did on my Tahoe, but that's the main reason that I went to the 2500. I think that if I...

    Useless Information

Interestingly, the Toyota has a higher tow rating (by 300#) than the Yukon XL 2500 / Suburban 2500 and the Nissan is just 300# under.

    LED headlights

You will have to find LED bulbs that do not have the fan on the back. There are a few varieties that have a few loops of braided wire on the back to help dissipate heat.. There is also a thread about this over in the '07-14 Tahoe/Yukon section.

2008 Tahoe Towing Capacity on this vehicle

C6A says 7300#. The door sticker on the driver's door will tell you the correct value. You should look there first. I could be mistaken, but my 07 LTZ was also 4wd and rated at 7700#. I've pulled a K5 Blazer behind that LTZ. Curb weight on the Blazer was about 5200#, add in the trailer and...

    08 Transmission Flush

Not normally. That being said, I have used dabs of RTV or grease to help hold the gasket in place until I can get the pan in place and a couple of bolts started. The only time I remember using RTV on the entire gasket was because the gasket surface on the transmission itself had gotten a bit...

    Useless Information

You sound to be having a better experience with E85 than my Tahoe did. I gave it a steady diet of E85 in the summer of 2014 for about 5 tankfuls. My E85 fuel costs were comparable to running premium. After three or four tanks, I thought my fuel pump was on its way out as it had gotten way down...
