Switching BU Camera from BU Light to Running Light Power with Switch

Whew! You had me worried that I was missing something obvious! It's always good to talk it through with someone with more experience though and, besides, now I have another option I had not thought of. I can always learn something new! Thanks, and Cheers!

Switching BU Camera from BU Light to Running Light Power with Switch

Hmm... I don't think so, not the way I've described it in my OP. If I connect the camera to the center tap on the switch, the reverse lights to one of the outside taps and the running lights to the other tap. Either one or the other tap is powered by the switch (or neither if off) but never both...

Switching BU Camera from BU Light to Running Light Power with Switch

OK, that makes sense and would work with the additional relay. With the exception of running only a single wire front to back instead of three, I'm not sure how a single on/off switch with a relay is really any simpler than what I've suggested, a single on-off-on 3 position switch and no relay...

Where can I tap into switched power under the dash for my GPS?

This makes sense, but then, I assume, you'd pull power directly from the battery. Where is that fed from? Are there locations that make that tap easy? Most backup cameras tell you to plug directly into the reverse light circuit wiring and the monitor is plugged into an accsy plug. I'm assuming...

Switching BU Camera from BU Light to Running Light Power with Switch

Thanks, but what you suggest doesn't meet my stated needs at all. What you suggested is harder than just wiring it directly to the reverse light, if I wanted it to work in only one situation. As I stated, I'm looking for a solution that lets me use the camera under two different situations...

Switching BU Camera from BU Light to Running Light Power with Switch

I recently purchased an AUTO-VOX W7Pro wireless backup camera that is typically powered by the closest reverse/backup light. But I also want the ability to run the camera when I'm towing full time for monitoring which would require a different power source. What I'm thinking about doing is to...

    Spare Tire Age Question

Thanks everyone. I guess I already knew the answer to my question, I just hate to throw away a seemingly perfectly good tire. But you're all correct. Better safe than sorry. Not sure why I didn't rotate old tires onto the spare. I change out to studs every winter, and go through tires pretty...

    Spare Tire Age Question

I have a 2001 Yukon that has the original Firestone spare tire. It looks in good conditikn with no visible cracks, dry rot, or other degradations, and it holds its pressure, but it IS 20 years old. It has probably ever been on the road once. Should I just replace it with a new one, or could this...

    2001 Tahoe/Yukon Owners - I need help!!

Yes, complete workup. Front end is tight, as it was the day before the attempted theft. I've driven it for 16 years. Something is wrong. And as stated I'm 99% sure it also had locking steering too.

    2001 Tahoe/Yukon Owners - I need help!!

My Yukon was subject to attempted theft and as a result my ignition and door locks were destroyed. The auto body at the dealership replaced the locks, but they replaced the ignition key with one without the thumb lugs (saying it was no longer available) nor does the steering lock any more (and...
