Replaced my transmission thermostat with a lower temp thermostat

Possibly shift quality. They definitely shift firmer when cold. People are much fussier than before about minor things like feeling the shift. Maybe a greater consideration is the length of warranty GM has to provide now.

Replaced my transmission thermostat with a lower temp thermostat

Has anyone tried replacing the plunger rod inside the valve with a slightly different length rod to reduce the regulating temperature? (Assuming you have a valve not too corroded to work with). It appears to me that would be an easy and free solution to reducing the opening temperature. I am...

    May have made a mistake.

You have “Auto Level” suspension rather than “air suspension”. Magna ride is completely different and often confused with the auto level or the standard suspension. Of the 3 available suspensions, the auto level is typically part of the towing package on our trucks, the main reason for that...

Update 5/2/21 - Bounce and Porpoising - Especially Towing

I have found that porpoising is a problem related to the equalizer bars. I suspect you need stiffer rated bars. The trailer and vehicle should move up and down together as a unit over small dips in the road rather than pivot at the trailer ball. Your existing bars were probably adequate for...

NBS rear spring options 2-3" drop

Yes, I do still have them. Will PM you. I forgot to mention both sets of Belltechs are variable rate springs so a few coils are almost fully compressed, with more space between other coils. That premium design gives a stronger spring rate as the spring compresses, affording a better ride.

NBS rear spring options 2-3" drop

I started with the Belltech 34324 lowering kit that sells for about $210. It also includes shock extenders and bumpers. On my 2015 Tahoe it lowered it almost 4" with the autoride rods adjusted for no supplemental lift from the air shocks. I used a 2" spacer under the springs and readjusted the...

Magnetic ride worth it? 3.42 vs 3.08?

Daily driving is completely different for everyone so impossible to compare. Driving in stop and go city driving compared to catching all green traffic lights can change city gas mileage considerably. If anything, the 3.42 should help in stop and go traffic as well, especially if you have a lead...

Magnetic ride worth it? 3.42 vs 3.08?

I have always bought the optional trailering gear ratio on my vehicles including my 96 Tahoe, 01 Yukon, 15 Tahoe, and several pickups. I have always experienced equal or BETTER fuel economy on road trips when driving at sustained speeds of 70 mph or more. I have friends, neighbors, and family...

    Looking for better ride quality.

Not a stupid question at all. Stock 18" ride best, stock 20" next, 22" most harsh. My wife also has a neck injury so I changed out my 2015 dump truck like trailer option rear springs for Belltech 4" drop springs with a 2" spacer. It gave me a level look with a great soft ride. I had to change...

For those with halogen that want to upgrade... HID hands down

I think the halogen projector lens has the same or nearly identical focus as the HID projector lens. That is why a HID retrofit works perfectly on the 2015 and later Tahoe, Suburban, and Yukons with their projector lenses. I installed HID's in my 15 Tahoe within days of it's delivery. After 5...

How to beat parasitic battery drain?

I forgot to say that I feel that because of the responsiveness of the vehicle after reconnecting the disconnected battery, I consider that a bonus! The only downside is that you lose the clock and radio memory.

How to beat parasitic battery drain?

The computer in newer vehicles does enter a relearn mode if the battery is disconnected for even a relatively short period of time. It is kind of like rebooting your home computer. The major function is to trim the fuel curve as a vehicle is driven to lean the mixture as much as possible for...

How to beat parasitic battery drain?

There is a great deal of good information in this thread but unfortunately some misinformation as well. I maintain over 20 batteries in various applications from tractors, buldozers, personal watercraft, jet, ski, and pontoon boats, classic cars, forklifts, stake trucks, garden tractors, standby...

Tahoe Premier Reverse Lowing / Leveling and Towing

This is the passenger side in front of the rear tire. Easier to see if you jack it up or take the wheel off.

Heavy duty coil springs 2008 yukon xl

You are correct about most of what you said. Where you are wrong is "Adding a spacer --- will normally reduce suspension travel and make the ride harsher". Neither is true. You were probably thinking of a spacer under a coil spring utilized with control arms such as on the front suspension...
