What's up fellow forum members
I have a 2004 Tahoe that I was trying to put the DJM rear hardware kit on. After unbolting everything the lower controll arms won't bolt back up. Upon further inspection looks like the drive shaft is coming out of the transfer case. Take a look and tell me what you think could be a fix. image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

I don't know what you know so bear with me. I assume that you lifted the car and put the frame on jackstands? Then used a floor jack to move the rear axle around while you went about this?

Did it slip off of the splines, just needs to be turned a tad and shoved back in place?

And what DJM hardware were you trying to install?

(This is the 2015 and up section, so bear with us)

Sorry posted in the wrong section. It's a 2004 DJM rk200 rear hardware kit. Relocates the lower control arms

If a admin can move this to right section much appreciated
Thanks fro you time

This^^^^^

I bet the axle and driveshaft moved back enough that the shaft is no longer in the splines in the tcase, and it is not “keyed” correctly on the splines to slide back in.

Agreed, you should be able to rotate the driveshaft to line up the splines and it will slip back in. You might need a helper to push on the diff at the same time. If you had only done one side at a time that wouldn't have happened.

Or, remove the shaft, install the control arms, and then re-install the shaft if it is too tricky to get it to go with the shaft on.

If you go this route be sure to label the u-joint straps so you put them back in the exact same position. They conform to the u-joint and if you don't put them back exactly as they came off they can break. Don't mix them up and get the orientation the same as well.
