2003 Yukon XL Denali. Was towing my camper and noticed the truck had no power. Put truck into reverse and it wont move. Almost like theres no throttle response. Put it in Neutral and have response. Trans was around 210. Was 97 the last couple of days. Let truck cool down overnight and it was fine until trans gets up to temp again. Feels like Torque converter is stuck locked? No CEL. Fluids are fine.

I'm pretty sure if the converter is locked it will kill the engine when you put it into gear. Can you rev the engine at all when it's in gear?

It could be shot, slipping all the power away and not letting it move. I think a bad pump will also behave this way if memory serves. I've had both happen many moons ago.

When it was hot all weekend, No I could not rev the engine at all in gear. Today it's just fine. Was wondering with the hot temps if it goes into a limp mode?

It was not slipping at all. I just had zero throttle while in gear.
Weird. When my trans went after I installed my blower, after a long drive, first it locked up completely when I put it in gear and it tried to kill the engine. I was out in the boonies and was able to give it some throttle and it seemed to work fine but the temp started rising until 20 miles later all of a sudden it started slipping and temp spiked so I pulled over and put it in neutral because the DIC said to idle the engine to get the trans temp down. It cooled down and as soon as I put it in gear it killed the engine and I could not overcome this by trying to rev it, it just killed the engine. I never had that trans rebuilt so I'm not sure what the problem was. Not sure if this helped, probably not lol.

I'm going to flush the entire system tomorrow and report back. Just wondering if this was a limp mode thing. I had no message in the DIC or a check engine light. Just elevated temperatures with my trans and coolant.

I've been in limp mode in my 08 when I pulled the TCM fuse by mistake and it still drove, just started in 2nd and wouldn't go over about 25 mph so it doesn't sound like that.
