My dome lights , the ones above the middle row, have begun intermittently flashing when I shift into reverse. Any idea on what this might be?

Could it be an early indicator it is time to replace the bulbs?

The "bulbs" should be LED's, so no need to replace them. If it only happens when shifting into reverse (and moving?), I think that you have a wonky BCU, body control unit.

first thing I would do is pull off the cover, remove the bulb, tweak the metal connector in a little bit so the bulb fits tighter and put back on, it could simply be that the vibration and loose connection is making it do that. it would be pretty weird if it was from something else, but stranger things happen......
you could also just turn the dome lights on and tap around the light on the roof area with your hand and see if it flickers when you do that, if so that is just a loose connection.

Oh great. Thanks

I'm out of warranty, but if there is a TSB doesn't the dealership have to fix it for free anyway?

EDIT- called the service manager- not covered after warranty- EST $350 to replace

0.25 man hours parts $33 x2 needed

I contacted gm directly on here, I was out of warranty too, when I was at the dealership waiting to get it fixed I called gm to make sure that I would not have to pay.

If you don't have any luck with the dealer the fix is pretty simple. 2 modules in the front over head area. I think the link posted has all the part numbers and instructions to get them switched.

If not, search for overhead disco lights and it should come up. There is a YouTube video of a guy swapping out the overhead console in his Silverado and the instructions are the same to get the console apart. If all that fails let us know and somebody will post them again.

The advantage to you swapping parts yourself, is you will know for sure the dealer didn't break the tabs and goof up the overhead console. Good luck.....

Yes thanks I've read thru that thread very helpful with the part #'s its a $33 part(x2)

I did speak to a customer care rep at Chevy, they gave me a case number and told me to take to the dealer so it can be officially diagnosed in writing. and to call back after and have it sent to escalation dept. usually they typically cover it.

I wish they had been that helpful when I tried to get them to cover (or at least help with the cost) mine. They basically told me it was out of warranty and I was SOL.
