Found a lot of information in regards swapping in the third row seat to the older generation PPV's--I just wanted to confirm that it works on the latest generation. Lucked out and found a brand new matching interior third row takeout off Ebay for a fair price, and was semi local to me, so I did not have to pay for shipping. Seller also had the storage tray the fits behind the third row seat, and makes a flat platform when third row seat is in down position. Seats were brand new with plastic still on the headrests.

Got home and pulled up the carpet in the cargo area, and dug out the sealant from all the factory threaded holes. Unlike the earlier generation third row seat, there are no "brackets" to source--mounts are attached to the third row seat (also it does not flip forward like earlier generation). Just need to order a new set of third row seatbelts from the dealership, and the swap will be complete. I will post the seat belt part numbers when I get them, should anyone else be interested in upgrading.

I have been waiting for somebody to do this to see if it could be done. I'm glad you posted this. Did you have to buy bolts, did they come with the seat, or are you just using any bolts that will work?

I got 4 of the necessary 7 bolts for installation with the purchase. They are M8--not sure of length. Maybe an inch or inch and a quarter (whatever the metric equivalent). I am going to look at some grade 5 or 8 to make up the remaining needed, but will also price them out when I order the seat belts from the dealer.

Another interesting PPV mod thread - I love the Surburban sized luggage space the PPV provides and one of the reasons I did not buy a civvie Tahoe and try add performance mods was because the rear luggage area is almost too small to be practical.

An added bonus with the large rear luggage space of the PPV is that the Suburban luggage bin fits.

Hopefully we won/t see mod threads about removing the second battery, or downgrading the brakes or fitting a 3:42 rear end ;)

Yea If I wanted third row seating again I would have looked for my wife's old Buick Roadmaster wagon, oh what a great car that was, and my old Roadmaster Limited Sedan, heck I filled the trunk up with firewood, man I miss that car and it got 25MPG, no shit!
I need cargo space not seating.

We just used the third seat option this week with relatives in town. I still have yet to order the seat belts but they priced out around $130 each through the Chevy dealership.

The loss of space is pretty minimal--the third seat folds flat even with the platform/cubby. So it's about 6-8 inches of VERTICAL space lost--nothing like the old fold and tumble style.

Checking in about seat belt installation. My husband and I are looking at a 2016 PPV Tahoe and looking to add 3rd row seat and seatbelts. Wanted to double check, did you have any difficulty installing belts? I am assuming the trim in back just pops off and that there are prefab areas to bolt in the seat belt and that trim then just pops back on. Is there a hole (or slit) in the rear pillar to feed the belt through? just making sure this is all possible before actually proceeding with purchase! Thanks!

I would really look into a 2018, much better equipped than a 16, plus not much more. Got mine brand new.
To answer your question, yes the slits are there for the belt to feed through. The seat belts just bolt behind the trim and to the floor all the spots are there for it. I ordered a 3rd row takeout from ebay for $295 and the storage box for $95, he is North of Waco. You will need to buy the bolts. Factory was $4 a bolt, you will need 7.
I am picking up the seat and box around thanksgiving, save on shipping. Plan on doing a full pic right up on it. But be advised the seat belts are $130 a piece from the dealership, but $90 online almost as much as the seat. Don't want to skimp for safety though.
