just got an 04 Tahoe 2 weeks ago. the ignition switch has stuck in the start position a couple times on me. had to pull it back. it also just cranks when that happens. have to turn it off and try again then it will start. anyone had this issue? didn't know if it was the electrical part sticking or the key part. may try to put some graphite lube in the key part and see what that does. it has 210K on it.

nobody has had this problem heh? I guess the dry graphite won't hurt the tumbler mechanism. I hope anyhow.

I would start by removing the ignition lock cylinder and inspect the ring and detents that the plungers ride along. It's a pretty common thing for GM's that those wear pretty bad.

The spring action does not come from the ignition lock cylinder. It comes from the ignition switch(electrical switch). There is a spring down in the ignition switch. Anything binding in the ignition lock cylinder or the ignition switch itself will cause this "sticking" along with the internal spring being weak in the ignition switch itself. Every one that I have seen do this sticking has been the ignition switch itself. Failure is the weak spring or the plastic dusting in the mechanical part of the switch causing binding.
