I'm not doing anything yet. just looking at my options. 2200 is worst case if the bastard just absolutely has to come out. I don't want to spend money that I don't have to.

first step is pulling the pan, and cleaning the timing chain area, and the heads. then diesel wash everything so it dissolves and drips out the bottom.
then bolt everything back up and do some sort of a high detergent flush. I haven't got that far yet to think about what to use.

hopefully this all does the trick, i install the knock sensors and harness. and I drive happily for many miles
also today I found 2 broken exhaust manifold studs, one on each side at the back of the motor.
I did compression test last night came up with:
starting at the front drivers side working to the back, same for passengers side.

1) 180
2) 175
3) 180
4) 190
5) 195
6) 180
7) 190
8) 190

Another thing to look for is (I believe) 706 cast number on the heads. Look at the passenger side toward the front, there should be a flat boss there. You could potentially have the castech heads that are prone to cracking. If you continued to drive it for a little while, keep an eye on the coolant. If it constantly drops, you probably have cracked heads

yep, 706.. it just gets better each day. haha

They're not guaranteed to crack, but they're known for it

Heads are a dime a dozen and replacing them isn't difficult at all if you already have the valve covers and intake manifold off (Gotta love that dry intake design!). The rear exhaust manifold bolts breaking is another common issue- so common that there are bolt-on clamps to fix it as an alternative to trying to drill out the broken bolts. But, if you swap the heads, your fix will be even easier.

I'd be shocked if the dealership does anything about this. I'm sure it was sold "AS-IS" and they'll stand by this. But, if anything was clearly intentionally misrepresented, use social media to put the ******* on blast.

I'll be talking to them tonight. I wanted to have as much ammo as possible before I go in there. I'm fairly confident the guy is a piece of ahit. I'm going to ask for some money back to help cover some of my costs. Pretty sure I will walk away empty handed. I will be spending the weekend in front of his shop passing out pictures and letting people know what kind of place this is. this will just be for personal satisfaction.

thanks for the tip on the bolts. and the heads.

To be honest I would fill the engine with diesel. Will it through the oil fill to the top. Let it set overnight drain it through the oil pan and do it all one more time. After the second time fill with fresh oil and filter run for 10 minutes change oil repeat until oil is clean. I know you said you didn't want to clean it but that's what I would do

I've never heard of this method. If it's effective enough, it would surely be an easier way than disassembling the motor. But, it still falls in the category of "whaddaya have to lose?"

thank you guys so much for all the wisdom!

update: went down to the dealer. it got ugly. he smirked at me, and said its your car now. it took everything I had not to do him serious harm. I looked him in the eyes and told him he is a bottom feeding *************. he walked into his office, and called the police, and told them I had threatened him (which I had not done.) I sat out front for 15 min and told a perspective buyer what I had bought there, and think about if you wants to do business with a person like that. they just waved, and did a test drive...

anyways. I like the diesel idea of letting it sit overnight. I'm going to do that tomorrow night. I'm fuming right now. my wife told me I look upset... haha

Just keep in mind you will have flammable vapor in the crankcase after you drain it. Another tip is to stick a air chuck in the drain plug with the oil cap off. This should push the flammable vapor out the oil fill cap.
