So I'm on the Volant website and checking out what they have for my 04 5.3 flex Z71 Hoe and I find 2 different part numbers offered.

Pn 15153 - $272.41
Pn 151536 - $287.30

Website is really vague and offers no description other than "closed box" on both and the pics look the same.

They also have 2 pn's for the Cai with a cold air scoop.

Anybody know what's what with the what what?

:help:

The 15153 is the Pro5 filter. It's made for everyday driving and general use.
The 151536 is the Power Core filter. It's more for off road and extremely dusty conditions.

So unless you live in the dessert I'd go with the 15153.

As far as the cold air scoop that's up to you. I personally wouldn't use it due to flooding around where I live. I'd be worried about sucking up water since it appears, from the photos, it sucks in air closer to the ground.

Thanks for the info. My Hoe is 4x4 and I live in Houston. Floods here all the time. I would never put a scoop at the bottom. Neither would I put a ram air. I had a nice ram air similar to this

on my 92 sierra and loved it until it rained. The inlets were in the grill on either side of the radiator. It sucked rain and would sputter and blow steam out the back. I had to rig some rain covers that clipped on the grill.

I have the Volant cai with the scoop with the pro5 filter. I bought it used from a forum member. I live in NJ near the shore. We don't have a lot of flooding , but it does happen where I live. I haven't had an issue yet. When first installed, just stepping lightly on the gas pedal it roared! I don't hear it anymore since my 6.0 swap and tune. Thanks for the photos Tonyrodz.
No way I could survive with the flooding we have here and how low that intake is. Since it only rains a few times a year the city doesn't have proper drainage so it just floods.
