For those who want fogs on with lows and highs without touching the foglight switch all you need to do is add a diode between the low beam relay and the fog relay. Below are pics on which relays they are and which pin you need to use. I recommend getting some 16-18ga. stranded wire and attach it to the ends of the diode, then you can just stick the stripped wire into the proper spot and then insert relay.

*****DISCLAIMER*****

This is depicting how I wired "my" tahoe to function this way I take no responsibility for someone improperly wiring theirs and frying some electrical components...In other words DO THIS MOD AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

Yeah, if you can give a little more information about what size/rating diode you used then I think I'll go ahead and do this mod.

Thanks, man!

You can use a 1N4004 1amp micro diode.

It is plenty as you are just triggering a relay.

One other question. Is the diode directional or does it matter?
Thanks much. I know several folks here have been looking for this mod.

Just tried this out on my truck and it worked however the diode got really hot after about of minute or two so I just unhoooked it to be on the safe side. Did I do something wrong?

Did you verify the pins with a meter or other test equipment. Possible that you tapped the 12v out on the lowbeam relay instead of the trigger wire. Best is to test all connections for voltage.

I used the same holes you did but the diode got really hot quick so I just unhooked it to be safe!

I would get a meter on it...there may have been slight changes to the pin locations between the early build 2007's and the 2008+ models.

I just tested this out on my 2007 Suburban and it worked perfectly. I am using a slightly larger Diode. 3amp 400PIV Rectifier Diode. Only thing you need to be attentive to is that the gray end of the diode needs to be toward the fog light relay. If it's reversed this will not work.

Ok, this is pretty old but I figured someone could help me too.

If I put a tester on where the lowbeam fuse is, will the side that I tap into be the hot side or the "downstream" side that will have no juice when the fuse is out?

Also, can the same principle be used to keep the daytime running lamps on when the headlights are on?

Thanks

Well im trying to get this mod working.
The bottom left pin (in the pic in post#1) on the fog light relay is the trigger switch, but i put a current meter on it, it is drawing 10.5 amps. I think the problem is I have HID's in my fog lights which draws more current then the stock bulbs.
For the people who got this mod working are you using stock bulbs??

Reviving an old thread here, folks.

I know that ITD did this on an early-build truck. Anyone have luck with this on an '09? Anything different between ITD's fuse box layout and the '09 Tahoe's?

Also, for those who have been running this mod for a while, any issues?

Thanks.

I've seen on other forums where this doesn't hold up and the diode burns up, interested to see if that's the case here or if there's a way to do it without this risk

Anyone here been running this mod for a while?
