Hi all!

Glad to be here! You just have no idea. I've been shopping since at LEAST January for some sort of OBS fullsize, but it had to be just the perfect one - basically in lieu of a new car because my 7-footness fits in them awesomely. But it's always been the thing of "How many miles will I allow? Will I get a beater and fix it up or a pristine one? Two door, four door, Escalade, Yukon?

Finally found this beauty - bought it sight unseen out of Baltimore based on the 82 pictures linked below. It's a 2000 Z71 with 72K miles and the longest Carfax I've ever seen detailing everything from oil changes to alignments.

My bank finished up with the dealership Wednesday afternoon. They shipped on Thursday. I had it on Friday.

I'm stoked! I come from a fullsize OBS pickup background, but expect some Tahoe specific questions! And then after a while, hopefully some answers.

Yep - that's the one!

For all the people hating me right now - I didn't even call to buy it.

I had a number in mind and was anxious whether I'd get it for that amount.

I just called to talk about shipping and such. He blurted out a number LESS than the number I was afraid I wasn't going to get it for, which I won't go in to.

The same people have another one that seems equally pristine with the same range mileage. It's blue with the original brush guard. My advice would be if you like it... give them a call.

It's already had consultations at the exhaust shop and stereo shop. But my mechanic is going to go through it stem to stern first, and there are probably some 75K scheduled maintenance things I can knock out.

Almost all of the ones I looked at I was going to do extensive customization on, but I'm not going to do too much to this one. The aforementioned stuff and then when I'm ready for new tires probably lift it super minor for something in the 33 range - maybe even just a leveling kit. It's also screaming at me to pull off the rocker panel trim and Line-X the rocker panels and flares, but it refuses to tell me if I should do the bumpers as well. On the thread linked above, it sounded like bumper paint can be problematic on these, so that could be preventative.

I'm surprised at what I can't find and I've been searching all over is a grill guard. I don't care for the wrap around original style with the brush guards over the lights. Just a vertical guard like you might see on a police vehicle. Bonus points if it has a winch mount. Anyone know where to turn up something like that?

Please dont line-x. Best way to preserve is a clear bra, on what im using; 3m Paint Defender.

Wow - not a lot of Line-X love.

Are y'all more of a Rhino crowd?

I wasn't going to try to color match it if that's what you're thinking looks bad - just full on matte black.

Just throwing bed liner on exterior body panels is a bad move and looks horrible in a relatively short period of time. Bed liner is for the inside of the bed of a pickup truck. Now as exterior body panel coverings IMO Looks god awful with a quickness.
