This is in the Tech section due to the fact to eliminate any questions on a Black Tune or any others. "Such as What Should I get" or "What do you have done" I do heavily recommend a Black Bear Tune b/c Justin is extremely knowledgable on our trucks. I DO SUGGEST to get a live in person tune if there is a session in your area. I DROVE 4 hours to get mine and got 2 hours of sleep b/w working 22hrs in 2 days.

Getting a Tune in your truck will defenitly awaken it! Make it feel like a whole new ride.

My Mods at Point and Time

1) Volant Intake with 4" Collector
2) MSD 6AL Box
3) Gibson 3" Catback
4) B & M Shift Kit
5) True Posi Rear
6) E3's Diamond Fire Plugs

My Tune is 87 Based.
Justin quickly hit my Transmission.
He firmed up 1-2 Shift.
He set RPM limits on my Tranny at different throttle positions such as WOT (wide open throttle) and half throttle.
This was great B/C I wanted MORE TOP END for the sole reason of highway traffic. Exiting, switching lanes, & entering a highway.

I was doing 40MPH floored and BOOM I was at 70 in less then a blink of an eye. Justin Programmed it downshift.

He also added a bit more fuel which was cool. Gotta give a little to take.

Looking back at it now, I wish I did tune for a higher octane of Fuel, but that will be the next time when I do my E-Fans. BB makes an E-Fan harness so its runs like stock fans should (controlled by our PCM) and not the flick of a switch.

Each session is about an hour. Mine was 44 mins. Do not hesitate to ask him questions as your inside the truck cruising around!

By far the best thing I've done for my truck!

I 2nd this. You can bolt things on all day to boost the trucks and sure they will work but a tune uses everything together to boost power to the limit. I always like a dyno session so you get a base line and see what different setting bring to the motor. (I had no option by to dyno tue due to a completely different motor)

I would consider a BB tune. You guys have sure hyped it up and I'm a believer. How do I contact BB? I live in Ft. Washington MD. Right outside of Washington DC. I'm looking to gather info like cost, how and where can I get it done, etc. Any info would be much appreciated.

I drove all the way from Southern Ontario to Washington DC to get a BB tune done in person. Every cent spent was rewarded ten fold. I was grinning all the way back and even took a detour just to make the drive longer. One word "awesome"!

Added:
Stock 98 Tahoe with 257k on the clock. 265/75/16 when i got the tune done, subsequently gone up to 285/75/16. No change to my driving expereince. POST tune, normal driving Gas milage is better i.e. when NOT towing but dropped a 1 KM per Liter when towing (i.e. PRE i got 6km/litre POST 5km/litre aprox). i gathered that this was due to the early downshift (i requested this specificaly) and staying off the OD for a extended period, however i am very happy with the towing characteristics POST tune. The shift is seamless when towing but is noticable when not towing.
Hope this helps.

Does it only make sense to do a black bear tune if you have a lot done to your truck?

All I have is true duals and a K&N filter and was just curious if it would be worth it?

From what I've read, everyone seems to be a huge fan of the Black Bear tune. Nobody has really specified what the tunes effect on gas mileage???
