Is there a way to extend the range of a factory remote start on a 07 Yukon Denali?

Yes there is a way, well sort of....

You are probably looking for something like the OEM "2-Way Advanced Remote Start" feature. I don't know much about this, or the specific part number you would need (they change depending on the features you already have in the vehicle), but I can tell you that it is an upgrade to the factory system that allows for supposedly more range, and an actual communication between the vehicle and the key fob. I will provide a link HERE to give you an idea of what I am talking about. I would get some more information before making any purchase though. Either way, you will probably need to involve a dealership at some point.

I am sure someone else who has actually installed one of these can tell you more. You can probably find some reviews just by doing a google search.

Back when i had a 2006 Monte Carlo SS, it came with the factory remote starter, the range on it was ridiculous, like if i could throw the keys and hit the car was my range. I told the dealer and they replaced the entire system with the upgrade from gm. When i picked up the car i asked if the range was better, and of course they said it is and for me to test it out. I walked about 50' away with nothing blocking me and i didn't work, no lights, no unlock no nothing. I got closer and closer till i was about 15' away and then it worked. The lead mechanic had no clue and i told him it is like you didnt do anything, its the same range. He got pretty pissed at me for that comment, i told him to go try any other 06-07 Monte Carlo or Impala with the remote starter and see what happens. We tried 8 other cars on the lot, brand new and non of them had a range greater than 20' if you had a perfect line of sight, but say someone was standing in front of you and tried it, then nothing. I don't really see gm getting this setup working anytime soon

I had the advanced 2 way remote installed in 09 on my 07 and it is great. Range is well over 100 feet. Works great for starting in the winter as it gives visual feedback that it is started and how long it has been running. Only downsides are it is larger (thicker) than FOB and the battery needs changing more often. It uses a different antennae and receiver and the BCM must be programed by the dealer.

For the factory remote, hold it to your chin when you press the buttons for extended range. Essentially, what you're doing is grounding the remote. Also, the standard remote breaks easily. The clip that holds the battery in is soldered with 3 weak connections. To secure the battery better, thus improving reliability, you need to open the remote and redo the solders for the battery mounting clip.

As for the 2-way extended range remote, I have one and love it. Yes, it is bigger, but I also think it's better. The range, as per the owner's manual is 2-3 x's greater, plus it'll give you feed back that the command you requested went through. It also gives you lots of info like fuel level, tire pressure, odometer, etc. You can get one from Supercharged SS.

if you want Unlimited range, get a compustar Drone. If your iphone or driod has cell reception, you can unlock, receive alerts, but there is a yearly cost and will have to install ad ons for alarm. Gm advanced is more than double for extended range. I love mine

thats cool, i had to call around before i found one that would replace it. its funny some of the stories they tell you about why you have to pay however much to get the dash replaced...i ought to call all the dealerships back that wanted money for the gm defect and tell them that I had it done at another dealership for free just to let them know they lost my business...

Got my truck back this past tuesday, and I must say the new remote is so much better, the range is awesome...i can finally start my vehicle from inside my office at work. Before I had to go out to the parking lot about 15ft away to remote start it, which was pointless. Now sitting in my office that is about 200ft and through quite a few walls. Well worth the money if you ask me.

Yeah it would be really nice if it let you know when the alarm was blaring...I will go and pick up a few of those batteries to store in the glovebox, thanks for the heads up.
