All i have to say, "Mine was 10 times worse!" the previous owner spilled paint at one end (A whole 5 gallon bucket). the rear deck when i took it out had sand out the *****! it was like a beach... the previous owner left the windows open during a heavy rain and it turned the carpet a dark orange. there was a dead lizard underneath the carpet....

Don't ya just love previous owners?? I would not have bought that vehicle with that kind of mess but that's just me! I figure if they are that neglectful of the stuff I CAN see what about the stuff that isn't quite so noticeable :shrug:

Yea I didn't even look at hoes that had a bad interior when I was looking for mine. If they don't take care of the interior then it's probably lacking in over area too. I have to admit though, I laughed when i saw that you had a dead lizard under the carpet. And there I was.. Sitting in the middle of class while it's silent, laughing at my phone.. By myself.. Like a retard. Haha

Mine was probably 10x as bad as that, too. It would have been impossible to clean, replacing it was the only option. This is just a toy/project for me that I picked up for cheap, so no big deal... but if I bought it to DD I probably wouldn't have bought one so dirty.

That's true. If you're buying it to fix up and is basically a "toy" that's a different situation all together. My '77 was definitely in less than tip top shape when I bought it but when you get it for cheap with the intentions of doing your own work to it anyway it's not that big of a deal....

you can look into that SEM dye, and re-dye the carpet a darker shade if you like. heard that wheel brite works real well in cleaning carpet and then you can re-dye it if it doesn't clean up. i tried oxy-clean, laundry detergent, pressure washing... but ended up just changing it. but re-dying it is an option.

I was originally going to pull it out to have a truck mounted cleaning machine do it today and when I got it out last night and compared dirty areas to some covered ones like say center console I knew at that point I was not going to put it back in. So I am looking at lmc for a replacement but don't know if it is complete as the one I pulled out. The old one has layered padding in most areas plus a third layer over the exhaust pipe runs. I was running out of time to spend the money on a truck that I could spend here and there to fix up. It didn't seem to bad until I pulled it out in broad daylight. The vehicle is heavily tinted so bad that I need a camera out back to see in reverse. It really masked how dirty it was.

Mine is WAY worse, I had a battery in the back that tipped and I have been known to transport trannys and motors that haven't been completely flushed out.

mine could use replacing but its not TOO bad yet... i've pretty much ruined the driver side floor (previous owners did a good job as well)

A bucket of hot water, a few magic erasers and some elbow grease did wonders for my carpet.

What I used...

I also did around the drivers seat carpet as a test and it came out really good there too. Took out the salt/grime and with lots of elbow grease a small 4" round section came out looking as nice as the door carpet. I just didn't take photos of that.

IDK, worked for me....
