Well, its 100degrees too often here in KY and I tow ALOT of trailers, cars, mowers, etc.... and the tranny reads 220-240degrees on long hauls. I am TIRED of seeing that and the wussy OEM cooler is garbage. I see larger tranny coolers on freakin Ford Contours for gods sake.

So, after hunting the junkyard I found 4 coolers, all off Fords. Seems Ford uses the largest tranny coolers of all makes. I got the largest of the four and bought it for 11 dollars.
It was off a big 350chassis econoVAN.

After some cutting and drilling, I made some cheap brackets to hold the new tranny cooler!

I cut about 4 inches out of the OEM hard line and connected the new 3/8" line to them to run both coolers in-line with another.

ENJOY!!!

All this cost me was $21 with the cooler, extra fluid, and some soft tranny line.

( I have not towed with the new setup yet, but it runs 20degrees cooler already just from daily cruising )

Tranny fluid is actually a rust inhibitor, flushing it out with a good amount of fluid and some pressure and you're good.
