Enough Airspace?

I have a single 10in. Kenwood shallow mount sub right now in the drivers side rear panel in a MTX thunderform box. Is there enough airspace back there for a single 12in. sub instead? I want a little more power but still nothing too crazy. I still want the enclosure hidden so that I have my

Not sure about your airspace.. but i know a good ass true depth 10 will out perform a shallow 12.. shallow mounts should stick to where they are needed like rear decks and doors.. so maybe instead of thinking going with a 12.. you hsould see about running a more intense 10

so whats gonna hit harder. same brand just differnt boxes. 10's or 12's? it would be 12's right? since they have enough space? just thinking outloud, sorry if its random lol

12s.. but shallow 12s have less excursion then full basket 10s.. thats where it gets tricky

The question in this is "which hits harder.. a 10 with 3 inches of movement or a 12 with an inch and a half?"

a 12", while bigger and more Sd, may not do as well in the incorrect box.If the box was made for a 10", you best stick with a 10". You could stick a 12" in there and go backwards.

I was actually just thinking about doing that. I don't think a bigger and more intense 10 will fit in the enclosure that I have but how about having a custom enclosure in the rear panel for a 10in.? Will that work? Am I just pretty much out of luck for a custom enclosure in the rear panel if I wanted a more powerful 10in or 12in.?

I had a shallow mount Pioneer 12" in cusom box in that spot , needless to say I now have a 10 kicker in there and it sounds waaaaaayyyyyy better.....NUFF SAID

Which Kicker sub do you have back there? How much power is your 10in. running?

sallow mount cvt...rms 400 and I am running the jl 500.1

Kicker Solo Classic 10 should fit what is the mounting depth on that thunderform? Some deadener would help things sound crispy.
