whats recommended for the 99 5.7l??????? looking to get some headers to beef up the engine and run some straight duals to some flowmasters/magnaflows

whats a price i should expect to drop on something like this?

Many factors in your final price.

I also have a 99 5.7l, and my final cost including labor was around $800. I got PaceSetter headers (painted, which are some of the cheapest headers around, wish I would have gotten ceramic coated), glasspacks, and 2.5" steel tubing straight from the headers. No cat also. If the guy installing it isn't a good buddy like the guy who did mine, expect to pay up to $1500.

I really disagree with everyone doing LT headers. Get some NICE shorty headers if you want Torque. Do LT only if your looking to turn your 5.7L into a race engine ha with a Cam and the works. My opinion... I got my True Dual Cowboy exhaust 2.5" with Magnaflow muffler for $300. To put on the shorty headers well good luck finding some one to install headers. No one likes doing them.

planning on doing the headers my self most likely if i get them. but ill keep all this into opinion when i decide what to do. i dont need a race engine just want a little extra power, mite get into more performance shit after i get the truck painted and interior redone

Is your truck 2 or 4wd?

Thorley Tri Ys headers $600
Magnaflow HF Spun Cats $200 depending on the model
Magnaflow di/do w/built in X pipe muffler $130 depending on the model
Magnaflow has tailpipes to, they do have toi be modified to fit but thats pretty simple to do. http://www.summitracing.com/search/Make/CHEVROLET/Drivetrain/2WD/Year/1998/Model/C1500-PICKUP/Engine-Size/5-7L-350/Truck-Cab/Standard/Truck-Bed-Length/Short/?keyword=magnaflow+exhaust+tailpipes

What I like about Thorleys is they are a complete bolt on kit that includes the Y pipe(there's half of your exhaust out of the way). And if you choose to keep you factory cats, great, they will bolt right up. If you choose to get new cats, even better, you can have a shop make you a nice rear half of you exhaust to your liking. Oh they are also 50 State emissions legal, not that that matters.
