...in the factory cluster. It took some trimming of the circuit board, IP face, and rear housing, but it's in and everything still works. I even put blue LEDS in it to match the rest of my gauges. And yes, that's a flat spot on the right side of the gauge bezel. I accidentally knocked it off my workbench and it hit the floor:emotions122: Now all I need is for my blower to come in. It finally shipped and will be here Wednesday:rocking:

Looks awesome!! What pressure will you be running?

Thanks. Right now about 6psi until I get ready to re-tune for the smaller pulley, which will then put it around 10psi.

As usual, great looking install JK. Until your blower comes in, you can just drive around and monitor vacuum! ;)

Looks like another nice install JK. To tell the truth, I doubt anyone would have noticed a flat spot.

That looks tight bro!! The icing on the cake would be if you could get the needles to be the same color but it looks tits as it is. Keep up the good work.

Yea, finding a factory looking gauge would be sweet. In my rx8 I had several aftermarket gauges that looked identical to stock. They even switched to be the same color at nighttime when I turned on my headlights. A service advisor at the mazda dealer asked me for the mazes oem part numbers for the gauges and the pod I made from fiberglass. It made my day.

And yes your truck looks awesome considering 122,000 miles.

Looks great! Can't wait to hear that whine... Magnacharger is probably going to send you a can of foam to fill your fender to reduce the noise, POINTLESS :imo: I loved the noise mine on my Silverado made and look forward to this mod on my Yukon one day...

A Group Buy would be nice...

Do you have any fears about adding a supercharger with that many miles?

Gauge looks great!

I love s/c whine. The foam isn't going in there...

Just gives me an excuse to drop in a built 6.0:D
But really, I'm not too worried about it. The tranny will go before the motor. I'm ordering a Stage III trans in a couple weeks.

Pics of it at night!

I thought a Boost gauge won't read until there is some sore of fi.

If you wanted the needles to match should have gotten Cobalt Series. Out of curiousity, how did you change the color? Sodder or replace a bulb?

What wideband you planning on running JK?

once you pulley down you'll wish you opted for an flt level 5...unless you're doing a 4L80 swap :rocking:

what'd you do for trans work jenna? I'm gonna need a trans soon and was curious if a level 5 would take 10-12 psi from a tvs. also looking into the 6L80 swaps so I don't have to regear.

The boost portion won't read with out any added pressure. The vacuum portion will read due to the way a n/a enigine works; the pistons draw in outside air creating vacuum.
The gauge uses a 194 style bulb that I replaced with a LED.

The Level III I'm ordering is good to 650hp. I thought about a 4l80, but I didn't want the higher first gear.

Good call on the 60e. There is no need to go for an 80 if you have a good built 60 or 65.

For wideband, I am real happy with my PLX SM-AFR.

damn ya'll with the email... how is anyone supposed to learn without asking questions that make us sound completely stupid!!!

Anyways, VERY nice JK... what is in that location in the 01 models? thats where my tranny dummy light is and i think some other dummy light as well... should the day come when i get a bit of boost into the motor, i think i may just end up using a gauge bar on the A pillar...

---------- Post added at 11:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:01 PM ----------

is the 80 just fine for this, or would the stock 80 still need to be built? The only reason i ask is because i may have access to an 80 for super cheap, maybe even free

Some folks are not always happy with the suggestions given, so I resort to email when giving opinions :hands:

You can email me too if you like :kiss1:

EDIT: I have my gauges on the A-pillar as they are right in my field of view while driving. I have the 2 pod and Justin has the 3.

As for the tranny, really, you are better off beefing up a 60 or a 65 than going with a stock 80. You need the upgraded hardened parts for the higher HP.

Thanks bro.
That's the location for the trans temp gauage which comes in HD models, Denalis, and Escalades.

That's fucking awesome. I love it.

What other gauge are you going to be installing? If none, why a boost gauge instead of something more "oh shit that needle shouldn't be at that point" type gauge? I mean yeah you can see the PSI, but at the same time... your butt will tell you when your in boost.

I'm going to be installing a a/f gauge also. I got the boost gauge so that I can get an accurate pressure reading when swapping pulleys. Plus it looks cool:D

Yeah, the kool looking part is right, an A/F ratio gauge is definitely a "oh shit" gauge.

Can i ask why are you doing this? ...i guess a more appropriate question would be, are you trying to accomplish something you been wanting to prove? or just want a SUV that leaves two dark lines on the road with smoke lingering around?

JKmotorsports
05-27-2009, 09:34 PM
Just something to play with. More power towing the boat and car trailer. More passing power. And just plain fun smoking tires in a huge SUV for a change instead of my other cars. Every car I've ever owned has been for performance. I can't stand the sluggish feeling going from my caddy, camaros, then to my truck.

I know exactly what you mean, i have always had two seater sports cars. My Tahoe was the first "Family car" i have owned. I ofcourse had the get the 5.3...but still i mean... no....it's a nice truck and looks nice and rides nice, i like everything about it. I'm just a type of guy who needs 8.0 or above HP/weight Ratio, with three pedals on the floor and the e-brake by my right elbow and just like my other cars, you smell the high octane burning at the stop lights. O well what can you do, kids...you can't love them, but you can hate them....wait i mean.... lol.
