Thought I'd start this topic since it's always brought up. Feel free to add anything I missed. I used a hair dryer, fishing line, and goo-gone. Heat the emblem with the hair dryer. Once it was warm and the emblem would move I used the fishing line to remove it. Once it was off I used goo-gone to remove the rest of the sticky stuff that was left. Then I waxed the area.

sounds good to me, bro.

and actually, if you leave it in the sun, you don't need a hair dryer, or a heat gun, in most cases.

and a 3m eraser wheel is your best friend.

Would this same process work on removing the Flexfuel emblem as well?

yeah. and actually, it should be easier on your 09. just use a rubber spatula wrapped in a towel and wedge it off.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I gave it a shot the other day using a flathead screwdriver wrapped in a towel, but this way sounds much better.

Ooooo...screwdriver would be scary for me, lol. But yeah a little heat and some good gone is all that it takes for most people.

grab 2 pencils... cut about a foot of fishing line. wrap and tie fishing line under the eraser end on each one. and use the sawing method... your fingers will thank you

i can see it now.

"A New Jersey man turns in to sugar and melts while taking the advice of a fellow TYF.com used. *insert name* was taking the flex fuel badge off of his black 2009 Chevy Tahoe when it started raining feircely and he began to melt. a neighbor witnessed this and sent us a picture."

"more at 10."

Word on the 3m eraser wheel. You might need to buff the spot lightly afterwards as well. Most OTC waxes people use afterward tend to having "filling" properties that fill in the scratches that might be there. I prefer to know the scratches are not there and will buff the section afterwards.

I prefer to have everything off. That's just me though

Totally agree. The eraser wheel is awesome and makes it a lot easier.

In case you don't fish and don't have fishing line, dental floss works too :)

I haven't de-badged my Tahoe yet but I debadged my TL a long time ago using dental floss!

I never messed with yukon molding only tahoe but I think non trim looks bad ass on anything. The smooth look looks good to me.

i was on the fence with the debadging.... once its off you will never miss it! i also used a screwdriver, i wasnt planning on it, but in the end, it was just easier, the screwdriver NEVER touched the paint... its all about the steady hand

The only debadging I've done on the Denali is on the rear liftgate. I took off the Yukon emblem and the GMC emblem. I'm thinking about buying a new Denali emblem to put back there. I don't ant mine completely debadged considering I paid for the Denali name.

i would have guessed you paid for the Denali 6.0 or the denali AWD or the Denali body moulding, or the Denali everything sweeter... the badge doesnt make the nali

Funny story, when I was 16 I used a putty knife and a heat gun, well it got hot, snapped, now I have a scar on my face, So watch out putty knifes are dangerous

Yea I guess I'll leave the chrome on the side, it helps accent it I guess. But the Yukon and and GMC are coming off around summer time or maybe this weekend if I detail the truck.

My tahoe is a 2000 All that is left is the side molding, My worry is that if I remove it will not color match because it is a 9 yr old truck and the PO didnt take very good care if it. Any thoughts?

I was woried about mine too bro, mine is only an 03 but has sat outside and the owner before me did not take care of it at all, I have removed all of the badges and molding is soon to follow, I had no issues at all. Hit it with the compound of your choice after then wax and it'll be fine.

Yea all you gotta do is polish and wax your truck and it'll help with the discoloration if there is any.

Well two tone paint is in the works the truck came from OR so ive started to notice some rot under the tailgate handle, Ive spent over a year now replacing and improving this thing, still love it though
