Cleaned my headlights up.

I read a lot on here and on full size chevy about sanding and spraying clear on head lights to clean them up a bit. I figured I'd give it a try and was very impressed with the results. I highly recommend doing this if your lenses are really UGLY and faded.

Very nice work. I have this on my to do list as well but tried a different approach with Meguiar’s® Headlight and Clear Plastic Restoration Kit. The wife's car had that yellowish crap build up on the lenses. Now they are clear with some minor hazing which I will work on more when the rain & bad wheather goes away.

Very nice, you would think you replaced those things. Not bad with a little elbow grease can do. What causes that yellow junk, is that a form of oxidation on plastic?

I assume they just turn yellow from being in all types of weather, sun, and everything for ten years... and I looked at that headlight restoration stuff but, I was a little skeptical. Good to know that it works though if mine get bad again.

I wet sanded mine with 1200 grit, then buffed them with wizards rough cut polish. They came out nice, but im still going to buy a new set.

i spent 145 on a new headlight and parking lamp setup. but needless to say that is a big difference and your hard work came through

First, I removed the lights and washed them off with dish soap to remove dirt and grease. Next, get a small bucket with some water, and wet your sand paper and just begin sanding. The more time you spend sanding the better the lights will turn out. Then wipe the lights down with paint thinner or laquer thinner or whatever before you spray them with clear. Finally, just spray several thin coats of clear and your done.

if you want to do it even easier you can just wetsand the lights with 1000/1500/2500 then buff them and they will look brand new also and you wont have to worry about the clear fading!!!!

or even cut out the 1000 and just do 1500, just remember to get all of the prior sanding scratches out with the next higher grit the higher grit you sand up to the easier it will be to buff out!

if you have ever wetsanded and buffed b4 id reccomennd doing the 1000 first and up from there!
