Ebay lights IMO suck. idc which ones they are.. lol..

That was my only concern. Where's the best place to buy IPCW?

it scares me to spend 200 bucks on lights that have 4 screws in them.... ovcourse you can put a torque head in it or something, but if someone takes a good look at your lights... welll there pretty damn easy to steal..

funny you said that.... I was already considering buying some security bolts to use when I buy them.
I am still not able to get a solid answer as to how they work. Are they white light when you turn your lights on, but change to orange when the turn signal is activated?
Maybe that’s the difference in price from the ones I posted in comparison to the ones you posted.

No, they're just amber, they're just made by a reputable company.
LoL I have those LED bulbs though, white then turn amber when the signal or hazards are switched.

DUDE I though you were moving in that vid. That is awesome. I gotta do that in the silverado now. Now to find out how to do it, wish there was a write up (hint hint)
DJTricky
05-21-2009, 02:58 PM
step 1 - buy a whalen 6 outlet 90 Watt strobe set
step 2 - select position for control unit and switches
step 3 - install unit and switches
step 4 - run 4 wires to front and 2 wires to back
step 5 - select bulb positions(what light and where)
step 6 - drill 1" hole with 2 - 1/16th holes on ither side for mounting
step 7 - plug up lights
step 8 - enjoy
i cant really give you much info on it because every vehicle is different, but thats the basics of it, mine are in my bumper lights as you see in the pics above, and my rears are in the bottom hole in the tail lights, the control unit is under the passenger seat and the switches are in the dash. all wires are hidden and will never be seen again(inside body wiring harness) and it took 3 days at 3 hours a day, so roughly 9 hours with a lot of b/sing lol

I have pretty much everything you need to do strobes and will sell it fo cheap!
I used to install and sell them online as a second job. I have been lazy and need to get off my butt and sell the rest of my stock.
I'll take some pics tonight and try to do a tech. write up.
DJtricky was right, its not hard.... just very time consuming because each strobe requires three independent wires. basic concept is running the strobe wires to the tail/head lights. Running a positive and ground to where you will mount the pack, then mountings a switch to activated the power to the control unit. BE CAREFUL when working with strobe units after they were recently turned on. There are very large capacitors inside the unit that hold a lot of electricity after they are turned off for quite some time.

got model numbers? And pics? I need the curly one with like a mounting flange
mikeykey
05-22-2009, 01:31 AM
they all are whelen and either have the flanges or a rubber type base.
similar to this: http://cgi.ebay.com/Whelen-90-Watt-Hideway-Strobe-Kit-w-6-bulbs-cables_W0QQitemZ120377196095QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_ DefaultDomain_0?hash=item1c070a3e3f&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1546%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C 240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50
the power packs are like this too, however i have some larger units as well (more outlets).

how are they controlled?? does that powerpack have the control?
mikeykey
05-22-2009, 03:00 AM
yeah... the pack has a programming wire that, when 12v is applied, will rotate through the different flash patterns. Usually whelen has three different flash patterns, however some models have less and some have more.
install is straigt forward, however time consuming. I have a total of 10 strobes in my hoe that i'm taking out becuase im getting those new HID headlights and new parking lights and then somewhere down the road new tail lights.
they work wonders if you break down on the side of the road. I have mainly used them in my hoe if im trailing something and i need to stop to re-secure it.
How hard is it to post a pic on here? do you have to load it on photobucket? We need a sticky in the introduction thread at the top of the forum.
