Im thinking of getting a drop in K&N for my stock air box but replacing that black flex tube with a straight pipe as i have read it causes the most restriction.

Good idea? I feel like this will perform better than a cheap ebay cai that sits in the hot engine bay....

I had done something like this in my car, brought a straight pvc pipe straight and had a make shift heat shield wrapped around the pipe and it seemed to give me more oompf.

try not to get a flex pipe, straight pipe ftw! flex has channels and the air gets caught up
straight pipe the air has no place to get stuck and its more of a free flow, witch is what u want.

im all up for saving money, but i could never put dryer tubing or anything like that in my truck. I bought my Volant system for 125bucks shipped with a brand new filter, bolts, cover and some other shit, you can find good deals out there if you be patient and always have an eye out for em.
