Hey guys Im a noob. I just picked up an '02 Yukon on Monday... First off, love the forum, and you guys have some great tips and ideas, not to mention incredibly clean rides, so its nice to be here. Now, down to business...

I am looking for a little better base in the back, the stock sub just isnt doin it. Its all stock system non bose with on star. I was wondering if anyone out there has just put a new sub in the same stock location WITHOUT amping it up or adding a custom enlosure. I want a sipmple mount up sub. I was looking at the 8" Kicker C84 (07C84), and from what I have read it looks like it would fit. Has anyone tried this? Will it make ANY difference from the stock sub? I'm really not into the whole SPL comps anymore, so I dont want anything outragous, just a little more thump in the back... Unfortunalty my stereo guy retired and closed the shop so no advise from him.. Can ya help me out?

Welcome to the site, luckily I know this brand :D

The Comp 8 or CVT 8", which is the slim mount will work as well.

Nice, Thanks man. Do you know if it will make that big of a difference in sound from the original if its not amped?

amped it will be alot better, but it's still an advancement compared to stock subwoofer.

Yea, im thinking about just amping it. I havent pulled that panel off to see what kind of room I'm working with behind it. If I dont decide to amp it, should i get a wire kit for the sub or just cut the OEM connecter and plug into the aftermarket sub?

You won't be happy with one, just buy a couple solo classic 12s

The only reason I said kicker is just becasue from what the specs show it looks like it would fit in the stock space.. If I was going to get seriou Id probably do digital design, but i dont want to get that serious or take up that much space.. Just need a little bump.. But I agree max, I probably wont be happy with just one lol... Lower and lower, louder and louder, faster and faster.. Nature of the beast.

My box takes up no room and hits way harder than I need. I'd do at least 2 10s I really like my solo classics you should check some out they're some of the best subs I've ever had.

if not amping, just use factory wiring is fine.
