Hd hood!! Look!!!

I have discovered a place where I can get a brand new HD hood for less than $200 if I pick It up myself. What do you think a body shop will charge me to paint to match as well as trim to fit? Unless there is someone on here from any bordering state that can do it? Lemme Know I think this would look sweet!!

It all depends on where and who you talk to,they probly charge around $200 or $300 since they gotta mod it,but might be a little less then that!

I would think a GOOD body shop would charge a minimum of $300 to paint it. The body shop where I have had work done in the past painted the hood of my RX-8 for $500.

Iagree around then $200-$300 range to paint and mod it since you are around Indy. There's bound to be someplace there that'll do a good job for cheap.

Boss Typed it, www.certifit.com That is the place I suggested to JK and JK got his HD hood from them.

I have been told by certifit that they will not ship to Joe Blow. They will only ship to a body shop or other place of business.

Tell you what, if you wanna pay for my gas, I will be willing to take a trip to the Chicago wharehouse and pick it up for you and meet you halfway to give it to you. Or I'll ship it to you as well.

They paint all our company trucks, anyway, the guy there charged me $200 to paint the hood, 5 door handles, rear vent caps. Probably cheaper to paint just the hood. Mine came out better than OEM. Cant beat that.. The guys there do really good work.. Just an FYI..

No doubt, now that is valuable info. I live on 15th ave and McDowell! I was at a body shop down the block and they quoted me $300 for just the hood. I will definitely check out Precision.

Depends on the truck, Tahoes nothing I believe, GMCs it has to be trimmed around the headlights.

He did say the hoods from certifit.com are known to have a lot of fittament issues due to the fact the are chinese reproductions.....

Yeah, That's where it gets pricy, when they have to fit and install shit. How much for just painting the parts did they quote you? The guy I spoke with, his name is Lou.. I agree with the Certifit statement. I bought a fender for my K5 a couple of years ago and I had a hard time making it blend in with the hood and door and the steel was thinner than OEM. I ended up taking one from a wrecked truck which had a few dings and scratches and had it worked on. It was night and day how it all went together.

if that is an OEM hood, you should be able to install and fit it yourself mang... it may take you some time but it'll will save you some bread

Naw, just the hood. Im gonna have Grunions fab up a way to swap out the roll pan and the normal bumper. I go to CA and CO often and I don't want to get a ticket everytime I leave the state......

It should be dope though, I talked to them and they said they could do it no problem. That is like #3 on my list right now.

Well boys, I got'er done! Today was pickup day and it went pretty good. The cost was $120 for hood and $280 paint and install. It took some doing to get the striker right and the gaps tight. Still need a smidge of adjusting if you ask me but I'll be back at the shop next week and they can mess with it.

I can see if the guy I got my hood from has a bumper, he has mad parts. It turns out he's a body guy at a dealership. I am picking up an e-fan assembly from him for $150. He has like three storage bays full of GM body parts and the guy in the bay across from his storage bays does paint. I really stumbled on a goldmine! :happy107:
