View Full Version : What I've been up to

So, if anyone gives a shit and noticed I haven't been on lately...there's a reason. I stripped everything off the frame of my truck for a fresh start. Still not done, but in 3 days of work I put in 30+ hours with a buddy.
Overall I deem this experience TERRIBLE. Definitely one of the worst things I've done to the truck (in some of eyes, it's the bumper, in mine it's this used pos kit). It's a battered and bruised kit. Looks like it's been raped...by what I don't know. We had to fab up a lot of our own pieces throughout the install. It's still not done, and wont be for quite some time as I have to recoup some cost.
Parts that I need, am making, or need to finish:
Shock hoops (currently has no front shocks)
New U-bolts
New drive shaft
New torsion bars
Get smaller CV bolts
Make new heim steering (old is bent, broken, fucked up, etc)
Alignment
Flip zero rate to push axle back 1.5" instead
Drill out new holes from new compression struts
More painting
....and i think that's it for now.....
So anyways...onto pics...

Thank you. It's no where near done (picked up more parts tonight, soon to have new wheels to push the tires out more, build rear bumper, etc etc).
I wish they were both mine....They are my buddies. He built the 1974 2002 ground up in about 2-3 months total. He recently built a turbo into it. It's much faster then his M3 right now. Fucking beast

Naw... I finally have clearance. I'll try and find pictures of how fucked up my fenders are after catching air in the dunes. I need new front fenders and flares as they are not fixable. Smashed the shit outa them. With the new wheels it will push the tires out another inch and should help with the overall stance. If someone would buy my wheels, I could do the new wheels sooner.

Haha, Thanks man. See above. I value my paint and fenders. These 37's come up fast...specially with no front shocks right now :Boo: Tomorrow the material gets picked up for the new steering and shock hoops so that will likely go on on Saturday along with the new torsion bars I picked up tonight for it. I still need to get my driveshaft lengthened as well :nono:

Thanks man....I'm actually going for function on this build rather then form. The 37's tuck nicely. If I were to go to a 38"+ tire size I would need a different wheel, would also need to stock hubs and ball joints because they will start to go. The next tire size (out of all the tires I would run) only come in 15.5" width. That's a little too much. I also don't want to regear again nor worry about the shafts in the 10 bolt or the CV's up front. The axle seals are already fucked in the rear. I've blown 3 CV's in 8 months...the list goes on

Spent a couple hours working on it tonight. Full heim steering is now fabbed up, small alignment adjustment, new torsion bars are in along with Ford keys, drilled out new holes for compression struts only to figure out they wont work so at that point we gave up for the night. Pics will come tomorrow during the day light.

Woah!! I didn't know you were sponsoring me :pepper: :pepper:
 I'm probably not going to change the aspiration of this truck. It's under warranty (Yes with all the modifications) and by the time the motor warranty is off it will have 100k miles on it. Not worth it at that point. I'll have a new one built by then and maybe, just maybe it will be done then.
Damn nice truck
Thank you sir.
I managed to fit my Honda under it today  Pictures later when I get home

Naw... I'm working on helping Dirt Mafia with a turbo setup (likely a T70) and Matt as well...but I don't like turbos. I'm not down for the dinky looking spinny exhaust mod... I like being blown  My last truck was blown, and I miss it

Dude, they're still 37's. Fucking big tire. In a month or 2 I'll have a new setup on for sure though :secret:

I am with you on that! I would take a blower over a turbo any day of the week, I dont like the spooling time.

Jenna like being blown too :pepper:
One of my buddies just built a turbo setup on the 2002 and another has an E30 that he's blowing. I'm definitely liking the blower more. The turbo is cool shit and what not but I like the instant feel of the blower. I don't like being teased...when I put my foot down that is

I think this is much much better than Corsa exhaust systems :Handshake: so I think it would take A LOT of whoring to get him to drop ship ya one of these!!
You gonna head down to Ventura County for the meet next week? He is heading out there to do some tuning and then meeting me up in Long Beach. Putting money down on a 1900 for the TBSS then too  SO EXCITED!!!

You def. need bigger tires to make that Silvy pop off?
Was the negative camber in the pic caused by worn suspension, and what about the Cali?

No bigger tires....at least not now. I'll find out how it does in the dunes this weekend. It will be getting new wheels with a better backspacing to push the tires out more.
The alignment was due to not doing anything about it when we put the lift on basically.
As for the Cali....I can't afford new springs out back, so I did a shackle flip, 2" shackle, 1" Zero Rate, stock springs w/ AAL. I'll throw some 4" leafs back there eventually and maybe 2 " Zero rate. I need to rotate the axle so we'll see what I do when I get around to that....I have no clue. I just want to get it driving at the moment. Haven't driven it in over 3 months now.
