2 weeks ago I bought a 96 Chevy Tahoe 2WD for $700 and Started to look around for advices and new mods to put on. I'm in San Diego and I'm a marine mechanic. Started my mobile business last year and made this change from a 1993 Civic to this baby! I found this site 2 days ago and had been reading a lot and drooling over the mods. I look forward to make friends here and even sharing beers while working on the tahoe. Here's the picture after I detailed her.

This is a nice place to get to love your car more than you do already, and yeah there has been some tensions on here lately but it will clear up pretty quick!

nice looking truck! We are more than willing to help, way to keep the OBS alive. Since you are going to tow with it suspension will come up sooner or later. Do you have a preference to lifted, lowered or stock height?

I'm not offended and don't worry, I have always had loud sound system and I can hear the bass and keep in mind that my friends are not all deaf, also I have a 4 years old son who love movies and road trips and he isn't deaf as well. Got my eyes on two 12" speakers later on .

I'm going to lift it as I don't want my wheels get rust. Probably a 6" lift is what I have in mind, just found out that it already had a flowmaster muffler in it, crossed off the muffler wish list!

Being that you are near the salt water a lot I have a nice cheap mod for you...paint, nice thick paint on the frame and underbody. a semigloss is perfect. Clean the frame and other parts up with a wire brush as best possible then with a scrub brush and dish soap and water, let it dry and paint it on. It will look great and hold up for a good bit. I knew a guy years ago had a nice dually and towed boats...big boats, he would back that thing into the water past the axle all the time. He pulled the bed off and put a THICK coat of paint on ever so often to keep it alive.

As for a lift for 2wd, no problem. when you are ready start asking!
