Transmission Trouble

Sometimes it will start out in 2nd. Sometimes not. 2004 Tahoe 135,000 miles.
Any ideas? I am planning on dropping the pan and changing the filter, but I don't know if that will do any good.

P.S. I have changed the fluid 3 times, about every 35k miles

NOT AN EXPERT... or even the next best thing to an expert

but i can say, and Im pretty confident, that replacing the filter and changing the fluid isnt going to solve your problem.. it sounds like your about a half a step away from needed a rebuild

yep, that's what mine did...acted like it was taking off from a stoplight in 2nd or 3rd gear...let off gas, then it'd go back into low...tranny going out...sorry...
