You would not believe your eyes
If ten million fireflies
Lit up the world as I fell asleep
'Cause they fill the open air,
And leave teardrops everywhere
You'd think me rude, but I would just stand and... stare

I'd like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep
'Cause everything is never as it seems

'Cause I get a thousand hugs
From ten thousand lightning bugs
As they try to teach me how to dance
A foxtrot above my head,
A sock hop beneath my bed,
A disco ball is just hanging by a thread (thread, thread)

I'd like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep
'Cause everything is never as it seems (when I fall asleep)

Leave my door open just a crack
(Please take me away from here)
'Cause I feel like such an insomniac
(Please take me away from here)
Why do I tire of counting sheep?
(Please take me away from here)
When I'm far too tired to fall asleep

To ten million fireflies
I'm weird 'cause I hate good-byes
I got misty eyes as they said farewell (they said farewell)
But I'll know where several are
If my dreams get real bizarre
'Cause I saved a few and I keep them in a jar(jar, jar, jar)

I'd like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep
'Cause everything is never as it seems (when I fall asleep)

I'd like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep
'Cause everything is never as it seems (when I fall asleep)

I'd like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep
Because my dreams are bursting at the seams

Right now, Im stripping the interior and waiting for my other shipment to get here...the actual Dynamat...I'll learn to install that stuff WHILE I'm doing it...Then I'll lay the Dynapad over top of that. More pics to come guys!

---------- Post added at 01:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:43 PM ----------

BTW....If any needs more detailed pics while Im working on it...lemme know and I'll see what I can do!

Anyways, I've done as much as I can for now..Im off to go get the chicken for some hot wings tonight! And I cant continue with the Dynamat anyways

I wanna do what Copper&Black did..(the WHOLE truck)

I'll lay the Dynamat down on the whole truck, then I'll lay the Dynapad only on the floor ontop of the Dynamat

I need pics of screen shots of EFILive while tuning your truck. Wait...

This is a good project, I am thinking about doing the same thing. It would be nice if you could pick up a cheap-o DB Meter from Radio Shack and do a before and after DB test for us.

Maybe thats possible..if they arent too expensive..I dont need it..so I'd just get it for you guys

This project wont be for a system...it would be for road/exhaust noise

Its VERY uncomfortable for my family on road trips as the drone is RIDICULOUSLY loud and annoying...almost cant hear the other people talking...and thats at cruising speeds on the freeway...so this should cut that out. My Mom had a real bad headache one the drive back from Reno and I felt bad for her...I know the drone was killin her

lol....COT...how about YOU come tune my truck for me with EFIlive (which I've downloaded..but dont have cables lol) and I'll take screenshots of THAT! :)

little tip, after you lay down a large portion of the floor, start the truck and let it run for about 10min, the floor will heat up a lot, and then you can press the dynamat down real well....

If you really want to control BOTH the heat and noise for those trips you were talking about where nobody can hear themselves, install the dynamat on the underside of the body. Then install another layer inside the cabin. Granted, it's much easier to do with the tranny out but I managed to get a very large amount done without removing the tranny and it made a huge difference.

Alright, so I had a couple more pieces of Dynamat from my pack that I hadnt installed...so I am doing that right now...I decided to check what I was getting with the stock sub...So far, I'm only pulling 116 dB right now...but thats alright..even with only doing the back, I can already tell a big difference... (or maybe I only THINK I can tell a big difference? I usually have the sub on its lowest setting...but I turned it to max for this...) Anyways, like I said...Im finishing the last couple of pieces so I'll post the progress after Im done...The next pack is in the mail

BlizzardX23
10-11-2009, 09:59 PM
I post the picture links before they are finished uploading to Photobucket...give it a couple minutes then refresh and they will all be visible :)

What you see there is 1 bulk pack...it comes in (9) sheets of 4 sq ft...the bulk pack is 36 sq ft and cost me $140 on Ebay

As for time, I couldnt tell ya...I've worked on it here and there for the last 2-3 days..You could get what I've done finished in less then 1 day if you wanted to

I went waaaay overboard though. There is not one millimeter of metal visible anymore...every single nook and cranny are sealed with this stuff...I even sealed the body to the windows (which you can see if you look close)...I took off the seat belts and layed the dynamat down..then with a razor, cut a hole big enough for the bolt to go back in...

Rollin Thunder

its just confusing to me. the bass is not that good at all on a stock system. I think its measuring noise period. Not just bass. people compete to get to 140 in compitition and your telling me all they gotta do is get a bose system and only be 25 db points away.

Max
10-12-2009, 06:26 AM
I'm guessing he measured right next to the console, and it takes quite a bit to measure an accurate 140db sound pressure with a properly placed microphone for a standard measurement.

trick28
10-12-2009, 08:21 AM
It all depends on where he put it plus the mic he used. The mics is prob off. Most say for a accurate reading to use a TL mic but there is no need for that.

When something doesn't budge... either..

A) You're not pulling hard enough

or

B) You need to cuss some more

or

C) Get a big fucking hammer and/or crowbar and MAKE it budge

or

D) not drunk enough to realize the screws, bolts, nuts you're looking for are right in front of your eyes after looking for 3 hours.

I just took the front cover for the tubes leading to the upper most core, and then you get some play in with the unit back and forth. Also remove the rear a/c fan, it will have a hole straight to the other side. Don't remove the unit, I got everything by pre-peeling 10" squares and carefully tucking them behind the unit and sticking them...

Sorry you are having trouble...
The top arrow is the fan, and bottom arrow is where that tube support is held down....

I know that..It was just funny...you turn the key and it stays quiet...I've done that a few times when I first bought the truck because it was so much quieter then my Ranger...then hit the gas to find out if it was running or not

I agree BUT what happens when all you can hear is your heartbeat?

I hope you realize I'm just fucking around with Blizz. His experiment with Dynamatting is exactly what I want in my Hoe. It's been fun following along and seeing the changes.

pretty much impossble dude. You want a quiet exhaust go get a electric car as even a hybrid has exhaust noise if you stand next to it out side and rev the engine.

also word of warning as well. To much quiet is bad. As in makes people sick. Your mind processes motion though the vibrations in your head and vision. You take one away and thats how people get sick. In this case your trying to take away the vibrations. This is also a reason people get sick while reading in a car. Their staring at the book and to the eye it looks like your not moving, but your head is feeling the vibrations.

Also why people on motor cycles should not wear ear plugs on dark roads. After a few minuites you start to feel sick.

I'll get window blinds so when we are driving, its dark and people feel like they are in a theater! lol

DO you plan on a serious sound setup?

BlizzardX23
11-05-2009, 08:43 PM
No...nothing major

I do want to make it 7.1ch surround sound though because I'd like to honestly make the seating similar to my other thread. I really like the "executive" look inside....

The good thing is...whether it be the executive look....a serious sound system....or just to make it quiet...this install will benefit any of them :)

no, motion is processed in the ear, but it isn't via SOUND. The conflict between non moving vision and the motion sensed by the tympanic membrane is what causes "car sickness". I know, because I suffer from it.

you can make it as quiet as you want... and it is 100% ok to wear earplugs on dark roads. Neither one will cause motion sickness.

can you tell me why some people do and some dont??? Like in an air plane I would love to shut the little thing in the window to help me sleep, but body says OH no. Same with anything really. But all my buddies, siblings, parents, grand parents even, have no problem, whether its a car, boat plane, what ever. Thier all like rocks.

I'm the only one in my family too.
some people are simply more susceptible to it.
(more sensitive visually or vestibularly? both?)
