My front bowtie gold has flaked on the very bottom from the car wash, what is involved in removing just the emblem out of the grill? What is underneath the gold?

Can this be covered under warranty?

I haven't done it yet, but apparently there are two posts on the back of it, some tape/glue, and two speed nuts that you'll have to undo (from behind the grille) before pulling it off. Taking off the gold bow tie should reveal the chrome bow tie outline at the grille, as well as two holes where the posts go through the grille.
This is all assuming that you have an '07+.

the gold is a foil behind the clear of the bow tie. Could come off with some work, but easier to paint the whole thing.

How did you just snap it off? I don't want to ruin anything. And is the bow tie in the rear the same?

That looks pretty quick and easy. Mine are already painted, but just had a question on yours. Is that a hole in the center of the chevy symbol from a rivet of some sort? If so, that would be the only thing that would prevent me from doing that.

It is the one with a border but the company is now out of business. Similar ones can be found on eBay still. Sorry no better pictures.
