I'm not planning on buying the whole thing. I spotted the filter though at an Auto Zone. I'd like to know if there would be any increase in any performance of the car, thanks.

so just an air filter, like a K&N replacement?

Maybe in economy, but anything has better flow than that paper filter imo

Yeah basically what you said blue.

it'll breathe a little better, and our trucks already have somewhat of a CAI on them.

I just got a K&N replacement. It helps a bit, nothing too exciting. Any way of losing the resonator box?

CAI will gain minimal power and a bit of intake noise which most people enjoy

What do you mean by minimal power?
So if I replace my current K&N air filter with a CAI filter, what are the pros?

I am confused. Are we talking about just replacing the OE filter with a new one, or replacing the whole air intake system with a "Cold Air Intake"?

A filter itself will help the engine breathe a bit more, and a whole will help it breathe more, the engines are already designed with somewhat of a CAI so you won't see huge gains. Some increased fuel economy and 3-5HP possibly?

I think you guessed it right. I think he is calling a standard replacement filter a CAI filter for one reason or another rather than talking about getting the actual intake.

well the whole concept for a cold air intake is to get more air flow to breath better and cold air is more dense then hot air, so more air less fuel gains power!

Yes, just replacing the filter.

like I said minimal gain. Maybe some more noise if you open it up a bit in the box.
