View Full Version : Anyone know if these black projector headlights can take xenon lights?

Since I got xenon lights, I need some new headlights. Right now it's not comfortable for other cars out there when I got them in my reflector lamps.
I was looking at different lamps, and these are the ones that looks best of the projector lamps IMO (still not sure if I should get black or chrome). (I'll remove/not use those halo rings, so rice haters, no worries.)

Does anyone know if they will melt with 35w xenon lights in them, or will it work?
I sent a mail to 2 different sellers on ebay. One says max 35w, other says it wont work...

Anyone got some input on this?
Are these for sale anywhere else than ebay? I fear the ones on ebay are some cheap chinese sh*t lamps.

Don't get those. The build quality is not that great. I just got a pair of these (link below) off ebay and installed 35w 9006 HID in them. Fantastic output. I am very picky about lights. I had planned to retrofit a real xenon projector, because I thought these were going to be crap. But the output is 85% as good as the Valeo projector I was going to put in there. The only thing was the bracket is not as strong as the one on the factory lights, so these wiggle over bumps. To fix it, I just stuck something behind the bracket and it solved it instantly.

They also come in chrome too, but since you had black in the search, I found the black ones for you. Good luck!

I also had the "Depo wiggle". Krazy glued a piece in between the reflector bowl and the shaft where the pin goes (will make sense when you see it) and problem was solved. I think what I used was a leftover spacer from a TV Wall Mount. Other than that, I have zero complaints about the Depo's.

Haha, that sounds better than what I did. I found 4 Foosball balls, and put two behind that pin on each side, fit perfectly! No more wiggle! Same here, no complaints other than that!

Looks good. I'm a picky light guy, too, and that's a decent cutoff. I was thinking about a custom retrofit, but that looks pretty good to me. One thing I don't like about the stock projectors in my Denali is that it is TOO focused. There's just two white spots. It needs a little bit of lateral spread to the light, not just one super bat-signal beam. How does the output look in the dark? (in your opinion as the driver, can you see the sides of the road, or just what the lights are pointing right at?)

I know what you're talking about. I had the HID kit in the Denali projectors for a while. Much better than stock, but not great overall. These DEPO projectors seem to be pretty wide. When they were used with halogen, it was like you said, only lit up right in front of you. With HID, the light is much wider. It is not as wide as an OEM xenon beam, but for a retrofit, it's pretty good.

In my Denali, I put bi-xenon projectors in. It was a lot of work, but they work great and throw out a lot of light. It was just too much work to these DEPO's to do that seeing as they are already pretty good.

The depo lights are nice! Never seen those before! Thanks!
I'll buy those in chrome, since they look better in chrome than black.

Maybe I should get some new bumperlights while at it. Are there any nice ones out there?
All blank like these maybe?

Really? I have to disagree since I actually have experience with this set. I've had that same set for a couple years and modified them for HIDs. The beam cutoff is very clean and I have not had any problems at all with them. No condensation or broken parts. I've pulled them in and out several times and they're still holding up very well. The beam pattern from both the projectors and high beam reflectors are great. A buddy of mine has a set on his Silverado and has yet to complain about his as well.

I have those tails on my truck. Light output is great even through my tint!

One problem:
I need a seller that got all those items so he can put them all in the same pack. If not, the shipping fee will kill me.
shipping is $85 for the headlights only.. so if I get 3 different packs from 3 different sellers (headlight, bumperlight and taillight), then it'll be $225 in shipping, which will be way too much to be worth it :\

Check this link for the headlights. This is who I bought mine from, not only is shipping cheaper, but the units themselves are cheaper:

Damn.... :( didn't realize that.

Maybe if you were nice to someone here, they'd ship overseas to you in one shot?

Where did you get yours? I like how they have matching turn signals. I think I need to get some.
