Stock Radio Problems

My CD player has decided that it wants to continuously try to play a CD that is not in there. And since there is no CD it only says "Err" on the display. I know there is no CD stuck in there because it will still take a CD, but then just spits it back out and continues to try to play nothing. I can listen to the radio, but instead of displaying the time, it only displays the "Err" message.

Any ideas as to how this can be fixed?

Try to unhook the battery and plug it back, the Player should cycle for CDs in the player
