Rear view mirror swap: manual to auto-dimming?

It looks like the auto dimming option was only part of the Luxury package. Has anyone made the change? It looks like an easy swap since power is already at the mirror.

i did it in my 99 sierra...the plug was even already under the headliner!

heh... I priced out the mirror on GMPD... $235 :-o

I can live with the day/night manual switch for that price. I have only and an auto dimmer in one other car I owned so it's not like I'm missing it.
