HD Hoods

I've seen a lot of talk about the HD hood upgrade, is there any more to the swap than just replacing the hood?

It's a direct swap on the 99-02 Silverados, 00-06 Suburbans and Tahoes. No other mods needed unless you plan on using it on a GMC version, in which case you'll have to trim the front edge of the hood to fit the contours of the headlights.

Modding/upgrading vehicles can get addictive. My career and main hobby are all about modding cars, and every car I've owned has been put through its paces. When I bought the Tahoe, I told my wife I would keep it stock since I have my other toys and this would be just a family trip vehicle. Uh...yeah. About 3 years and a few thousand dollars later, now it doesn't even look like the same truck.
You already started. Might as well keep going til you can't anymore;)

Yeah I feel the same way, i can never leave a car all stock you just have to add your own style to it. I have had the yukon since Feb. and think i have done pretty good so far. Next is a even more custom intake and the LED tail lights cause all i have now are LED Bulbs it just isnt the look I was going for....

I forgot who it is with a blue yukon, but he just put on some really sweet led tails that look kinda like the ones on the nbs. Probably the ones I would get when I go that route.

If I'm not mistaken, the same hood used on the GMC non-HD models were the same ones on the GMC HD model versions. Only the Chevy models used different hoods.

Damn this is one mod I would love to do, about how much would the hood alone cost?
Maybe i'll get lucky and find a rearended HD and get the hood for a great price. Then i'll just have to get it painted.

you won't find one in silverbirch. that's an 04+ color.

but thats unpainted...once you factor in $500 for paint its pretty expensive

The cheapest ive found the HD hood for was 248 + shipping + paint, Although I love this look, I think I might keep finding the parts or the 05 HD swap since my whole front end is pitted

I've got 400 in mine total paint and hood. I have a personal painter though which may have saved me a little. the hood alone was 250 and it took three to get one that wasn't fugged up. The first one was damaged all over when we pulled it out of the box. Second time they sent a non hd. Third one was flawless because they knew if they sent another bad one they were going to loose a bodyshop!

i guess my hood is already a HD hood I wasnt aware, but you are right road will... I want those tail lights too!! probably in the next week or two, i tried to make a custom intake today, didnt work so i am taking back the pieces and just buying one of the cheaper ones off of ebay

yours is a gmc hd hood... putting the chevy hd hood on the gmc is the tits though..

i wanna do it but have the same cost issues.. my hood repaint would be damn near a grand then trim it and fit it plus the cost of the hood..

Maybe I'll do it to my Denali one of these days. I'm working on talking the wife into a Blackbear tune at the monet. She was saying she didn't like how sluggish it was....so I'm working on that now.
