I recently joined this forum and searched for information here before purchasing a new 2012 Z71 4x4 Suburban for the family. I went with the Z71 LT trim over the LTZ because it was unclear if the LTZ with the heavy duty towing package included the locking rear diff (G80?). I plan on taking this on family trips into ski country and want to have the best traction possible in poor weather conditions.

Some of the things I am interested in learning more about are the GMX lockpick mods - it would be nice to add side cameras to aid in parking, the DL3 mirrors with blind spot assist, and engine programming for power and economy - hyperlean vs DoD.

My truck stickered right at $58k but with incentives, owner loyalty, and dealership discounts I was able to get $7k off and 1.99% 60 mos financing. I went ahead and bought the 6 year 100k miles GM factory extended warranty with zero deductible.

Anyhow, I hope to learn much here and am thankful such a good site exists.

I wasn't planning on doing any suspension mods as far as lifting it. Maybe a rear swaybar but I don't know enough about the pro's and con's yet. This truck will primarily be driven by my wife and occasionally by her mom for shuttling the kids to/from school and activities, with an occasional family trip cross country

So far I have ordered the weathertech molded rubber mats for all three rows, polished and waxed the car with Ultima Paint Guard Plus.

Welcome to TYF Clay. That's a good lookin' burb you got! I like how the newer Z71's have color matched mirrors/handles instead of the brushed aluminum trim.

Nice truck, but cancel the extended warranty, it's a scam and waste of money! I hate seeing people fall victim to the extended warranty pitch these scumbag salesmen sell. Drives me nuts.

Why are you referring to me as a scumbag?

And nice rig! I would love a burb but don't even need all the room in my hoe.

Congrats on the Sub, Now lets see some of the other rides. Love Porsche's. Dads got a 73 911 Targa, I would love to have one maybe down the road but I want to add a 4 door family sports car first.

Nice Burban! My buddy has the same one, but in 2008. Great rig!!

You are crazy! As soon as the door actuators start going to the tune of $300.00 a piece, that warranty will pay for itself withing the first year over 3yr/36k.

I am an F&I guy in a Chevy dealership so obviously I sell service contracts for a living. They are great for peace of mind as long as you don't get gouged on price. Also I would never recommend anything other than factory (GMPP in this case.)

If anyone plans on buying an extended service contract I can tell you what a fair price for one is.

All Im saying is people get robbed on warrantys everyday. They roll them into the financing as well, and end up paying juice on the warranty. Also, the salespeople have wiggle room and people rarely haggle, then end up overpaying. Dont buy one point of sale, go home, research, then if you must make the purchase. And as far as the actuators possibly going, why not take a shot and keep the warranty $ in the bank, then if they blow you have the money! Why pay ahead for possible repairs, lol. I have never bought a warranty and never will!
